Did you see the BBC News this morning? A new development in health. US research shows that fasting can reverse Type II Diabetes. Where have I heard that expounded before? Here is the link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-39070183
My weight this morning wasn’t a surprise. It pretty much mimics what happened the last time I had surgery. The difference this time is I wasn’t on a drip for hours after the operation.
I am feeling really sore this morning, made worse after Lily jumped on my belly as I lay sleeping. I feel even worse because I heaved her off me, and the bed, and now she won’t come near me.
I am still on painkillers, but only the co-codamol. My wounds are clean and dry, with no infection this time round. Tomorrow I can remove the surgical stockings I have had to wear since the op and I am thinking of removing the dressings (only plasters) during the day, and only putting them on during the night.
My appetite has not returned to normal, so I am fasting today, with a view to continuing alternate day fasting during my recovery.

Yes, I saw that. Also that they've only researched it with mice and it's still only a hypothesis that it would do the same in Humans. Sorry you're feeling sore and the cat's annoyed with you. Both will change with a little time, though. Your head seems to be in a better place this op compared with the last one - the fact it was planned rather than emergency at a guess. Good luck with the fasting!

Phooka: It has already been proved with humans. It is the system used by Dr Fung and others like him.

Lily will recover, cats love a good sulk and you will too but take it easy and don't fast too heavily, your body needs food to recover quickly and properly as it's working very hard to heal itself.

I agree with you, Jocko ... but it hasn't been proven with double-blind tests (good luck with that one guys!) and peer-reviewed papers. Dr Fung's successes will only ever be treated as anecdotal sadly and the plural of anecdote isn't data to the science community. I'm with you on it 100%.

If you read a lot of the journals of FS members, I think it has already been proven on here! I'm glad I don't have a need to fast though. I don't know how people do it. I think about food all the time 😳. Anyway, Jocko, I'm sure Lily will soon be purring on your lap again. She looks like she's waiting for a bath in the sink! Such a pretty cat. Take care of your tum and have a good day.

Good morning Jocko - glad to hear you are on the mend. I just got back from a trip and my cat is none too happy with me either. I figure he will sulk for another day, hope Lily comes around sooner - she's beautiful by the way! Regarding the fasting - I agree with everything about Dr. Fung, however, I personally feel it is much, much easier to fast if on a LCHF diet already. Your thoughts??

Definitely. Once you are on LCHF your body gets used to burning Fat for energy, so fasting is just the next step in the ladder.

You sound really positive and upbeat after the op this week. I do agree with DR Fung and fasting. Surely we have some evidence of it here in FS. There is a lot of research at the moment, and it makes compulsive reading, and viewing. There is a lot to be said really about self-help anyway. I cant fast for too long myself, but I have tried 16-20 hours in recent days and felt no negative side effects. I'm just hungry after that length of time, and have to cook something up for hubby anyway. Oh I do like the colour of your kitchen tiles Jocko.. nice and shiny. Lily looks beautiful too

Prayers have been sent for a speedy and complete recovery for you. Perhaps you can bribe Miss Lily with a treat of tuna and win back her affections.

:) Mrs Maths and I are on the same page. I LOVE your tiles and the shiny kitchen sink .... and your cat is gorgeous sitting in it by the window! Ha Ha! As to the breaking news .... that is funny, isn't it? We KNOW both low carb and fasting reverse diabetes. No one asked us, right?
