OOPS! We've all been there. It's only a small blip - you can get over it

I know a fried breakfast is supposed to be a good hangover remedy, but it's altogether too much like hard work. I'm terrible: a can of coke and a bar of milk chocolate and then back to bed. Not good. So I know how it goes. It's not a huge rise in the grand scheme of things. Good luck for this week.

Living out in the sticks has its advantages. What I haven't got in the house, I can't eat. A MacDonald's would probably mean a 120-km (75-mile) round trip. We don't keep coke in the house and chocolate is rarely allowed in these days. I make an effort not to get a hangover now!

Considering how far you feel it's a small gain! I was there this weekend but was mugged in the Co-op by the biscuits - I swear I didn't ask them to come home with me . . .

Most of the time it's very peaceful, but it's surprising how noisy the countryside can be at certain times of year, such as harvest, hunting and fox mating season. Also quite smelly at muck-spreading time of year. But mostly it's fantastic. The almonds will be coming into blossom in a couple of weeks or so, and that's a beautiful sight.
