julieg4884's Journal, 06 Feb 17

I've just celebrated my 60th birthday when my dear husband surprised me with a 2 week holiday, which included an all inclusive cruise round the Canaries. We named it 'PUDFEST' as the puddings were to die for!! As you can imagine it was a continuous eatathon. I'm amazed I've only put on 4 lb.
Now it's time to eat healthily and get fit, as I'm really worried about developing diabetes. There has been a lot of hype about it this year, especially with middle aged women who carry a lot of fat round their middle, and that's definitely me!!
So watch this space. Hope I can count on some support from my lovely buddies, as I think I'm going to need it, and I'll do the same.
Here goes. Good luck everyone xx

That cruise sounds wonderful. I managed a 3.5kg increase in a week on my hols so this is nothing, it'll go pretty quickly as mine has. I hear you on the "carrying around the middle" front. That's my target area too. All the best!

Many happy returns, Julie! I love cruising too. I don't think you put on as much weight as they say, as you burn an awful lot of calories up just getting about the ship - plus all the walking that you do when you're ashore. You'll soon lose those few pounds 🙂

I am dreaming of going on a cruise but my husband is sea sick so l guess it might only be a dream!!!! You will loose the weight, just go straight back on the diet! Good luck

Marie - modern ships are so stable that most people don't get sea sick. Whether you'll be able to persuade him of that is another matter!
