JockoT's Journal, 23 Dec 16

I have decided to let go the rope. At least until after Christmas. My eating, and consequently my weight is all over the place just now.
My ex's procedure went fine yesterday, and my son hopes his mum may get home today, or, at worst, tomorrow.

That's good it went well and she should be home soon. For what it's worth, I think you're doing the right thing with your diet. Regroup and start again in the New Year. Too much has been going on and you need a bit of R&R. Who knows! You might even lose a bit because you're not stressing about losing. It's happened to more than one of us here. Have a wonderful Xmas and Hogmanay, Jocko

Glad to hear the news about your ex's operation. That will ease the worries over the festive season, though I imagine you will still be helping your son out over this period. I hope you get to have some time to enjoy with your wife. Best wishes for Christmas.

Just had word she is getting home later today, and the doctors don't think she will have any further problems.

Well you had a good drop but, yes, just enjoy Christmas and not worry about the weight. So glad your ex's procedure went well and that she'll be home today. Takes some pressure off you 🙂

That's great Jocko, it should be easier to enjoy a few things now that immediate uncertainty and stress has lifted and you definitely do deserve to enjoy a few things so it is good to hear you are going to let yourself. But do be careful not to think that any types of food will solve any types of problems (as fun as it can be to let it try), only healthy food can fix problems - unhealthy foods if left on their own are real mess makers. so I think it might be a bit like healthy food is the responsible adult and unhealthy food is the toddler - make sure there is always some responsible adults around toddlers and nothing can go too far wrong.

I've been indulging a bit the last few days, too. No worries, though. Time enough to get back on it after the holidays. Happy Christmas to you and yours, Jocko.

I support your self acceptance. Angst and regret just never help.
