OutlanderFan's Journal, 02 Jul 16

Oh, well, my stay in Onederland was brief but sweet...I am determined to get there again very soon. All the last week or so I have felt very hungry. I have been drinking more aspartame containing cold beverages and I wonder if that is what has been tricking my body into thinking it's real sugar and therefore increasing my insulin levels and hunger? My blood sugars have been good and I have maintained ketosis according to my Ketonix meter.

When I was at my physical a couple of weeks ago, I had blood work that showed that I am no longer considered "pre-diabetic," I no longer have fatty liver, and even though my total cholesterol went up about 25 points, 16 of that was HDL. All in all I guess I shouldn't complain, but I have to work harder this week. Next week my husband and I are going to Toronto for a few days, which will be great, but I'll have to be on my toes!

That is great news about your health turning around! About the aspartame, I have read that we are conditioned from infancy to get a big bolus of calories after the sweet taste stimulus. When we have the stimulus with no calorie reward, our bodies stay hungry until they get thise calories. I don't know which hormone is responsible.
