JockoT's Journal, 30 May 16

I am feeling thoroughly miserable and depressed. I am in considerable pain, but the painkillers seem to be making me ill and hallucinating. I have decided to try without today. Without the Opiates, at least.
I am bloated with wind and spend all day burping. Last night I was in bed about an hour, when I suddenly felt nauseous. Luckily I managed to get to the toilet before I started to throw up. It lasted about half an hour but I was able to get some sleep after that. Madge has had to go back to work today so I miss her too. What a poor soul I am!

Oh Jocko, that's awful. I'm sorry you feel so bad, and you're home alone too. I hope you can find a painkiller that's helpful and doesn't make you feel ill. Unfortunately, depression is a common side-effect of surgery and will pass with time. I'm sure you're longing to go out on your walks again but for now you must rest. Take care.

Feeling ill, in pain and alone is awful. Sending you healing thoughts. I usually seek refuge in books then things are bad - curled up in bed with something not too taxing (I read the Twilight series and Hunger Games when ill... On a Kindle of course so no one could tell I was reading kids' / young adults' books 😉). Take care x

I have kind of read my self out, this past week. I finished Ken Follett, "Fall Of Giants", read the sequel, "Winter Of The World" and am now halfway through "Edge Of Eternity", the final one in the trilogy. 874 pages, 928 pages and 1184 pages. Thank goodness for Kindle format.

I feel you Jocko! Pain medication makes me very sick to my stomach, after my surgery in 2010 I had gone home with 40 staples along my midsection and I had to just flush the pain meds down the toilet. I found that I could tolerate the pain better than I could the pain relievers. Taking 4 coated 200 mg Ibuprofen capsules helped but did not take it all away. Strangely enough walking did. My surgeon told me to try to walk a mile on my treadmill daily and I did it and afterwards the pain was reduced. I guess endorphin's help with pain in some manner. I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Sorry to hear one of our fellows is in pain and we all wish you well. Hopefully you will soon feel better physically and ( today it seems ) mentally and the current pain will just be a distant memory JockoT. I only have to look at your post from yesterday and the 3lb loss plus the comments about bodily functions returning to normal to know that above all you are a positive guy! Before we know it you'll be cycling, walking and amusing us all with your wit n humour. Speedy recovery but please also try to be a patient 'patient' and let nature's healer: time, do its job. Easier said than done I know.
