CatHerder's Journal, 13 Apr 16

Another drop for the week. Eating more, moving more and losing weight. Hmm, how about that.

For all of the people fretting over small weight gains while measuring frequently here's my weight path for the week.

4/8/2016 211.6 <= previous low
4/9/2016 215.2 <= up 3.6 lbs in 1 day
4/10/2016 215.4 <= up 0.2 lbs in a day
4/11/2016 213.4 <= down 2.0 lbs in 1 day
4/12/2016 212.4 <= down 1.0 lbs in 1 day
4/13/2016 211.2 <= down 1.2 lbs in 1 day

Net loss 0.4lbs

These fluctuations occur due to fluid (water) retention. I think it's your bodies way of playing mind games with you. Just ignore the short term fluctuations and carry on. If you're in a calorie deficit you will lose.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Catherder: Your post is exactly what I needed. I fully expected a drop this morning. (Ridiculous fretting - ugggh!) The scale refused to cooperate. (Again!) Our bodies are complex mysteries. Your advice is well taken. Thanks for the encouragement.

Congrats on the loss, and nice example of daily weight fluctuations that still end up with a loss over the week. We are so focused on the short term and when those results don't pan out the way we want, it can lead to frustration and failure. Seeing changes in weight more long term, just like this journey is a long term never ending one if we are going to continue a healthy lifestyle, is a much better perspective.
