Log your calorie intake. Nothing gives you a reality check like seeing what you have eaten, in black and white, on the screen.

i have tired calorie counting before but found it very difficult and takes time which i dont have also after watching a documentary about calories and how they are counted i dont trust that they are what they say they are on packets and in most calories counting books they are all guess work. there is a new programme through my doctors thay have put me forward for so fingers crossed this works because i have tried weight watchers and slimming world plus a fair few of the fad diets non have been long term and i have always gained the weight back plus more this programme is supposed to be life altering i went to the first meeting but wasnt impressed in the slightest it just seemed to be the same faddy crap you hear from weight watchers and slimming world if you dont eat meet you can eat as much as you like ie become a vegetarian or the other option eat all fatty foods and you'll lose weight similar to the Atkins diet i mean honestly this is what my local health care provider is recommending sorry im not having a go im just ranting about the lack of options. there are no long term life style changes that keep the weight off from what im finding hence why im feeling defeated

The calories on the packets are not gospel, but at least if you count them and they come to 1500 you can be pretty sure you haven't eaten 3000. If you don't count them you could well eat 3000. I know. I did it for years!

May I suggest following a fasting method of weight loss. Read up on www.thefastdiet.co.uk and thank me later :) It gives you the flexibility to eat without restricting any type of food but also achieve weight loss. There's many variations to it. Read my journal. I used to be 134kg and now I'm under 110kg(lowest was 106.3kg about a week ago before having the flu). You start this method then you can tweak it, adjust it and customize it for suiting yourself. The weight/fat will drop off you and you will be able to sustain it as a lifestyle so you wont put it back on :)

Lutami, I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with the way things are going. Some of the supporters here had offered good advise. This app is really good in helping you track your calories however.....you have one job to do, it's a collective effort :), you have to put in what you eat and drink. Sorry to be rude, but you MUST find time to do this even if it means sitting on a loo and entering foods in the app. Second most important thing you should do is to have blood tests done, mainly hormones. If those are out of whack you'll have difficulties with losing fat even if you were to chomp on lettuce alone. Third thing, yid suggest considering st

...cont. strength training, whether it's at the gym or at home. There's always a way. It's rather simple: you need calorific deficit to lose weight (fat). Buuuut if you're insulin resistant then perhaps a low carb, moderate protein, high fat diet would be more suitable. And before you dismiss my idea, let me briefly explain why I suggested it: carbs are the most preferable fuel by our body but they spike our insulin hormone which may cause those carbs to be converted and stored as fat. Whereas, if your body had very little carbs available, it would need to find another source of energy which would be fat.

...cont. strangely enough not many people know that fat can be converted into glucose by our own bodies, thus we don't really need carbs for energy. And the plus side of it is that the fat you consume would not be stored in your body but converted into energy by your liver and the adipose tissue you store at the moment would also be used as energy source. Pls let me know if you want to know more :) I truly believe you can safely lose weight but it takes commitment and support :)
