CatHerder's Journal, 14 Jan 16

I'm glad to see the scale going down. More importantly I have dropped 1% bodyfat. That means that I have lost mostly fat. Lifting heavy weights works well for losing weight. It also has the benefit of building muscles which should help in the long run. I'm planning on re-testing my RMR this weekend to see if there has been any change with the change in fat mass. I'm happy about the changes.

I will say there are days when it's difficult to maintain a deficit. My appetite goes kind of crazy if I don't eat well. Mostly if I eat too many convenience bars such as Kind bars and protein bars. I only use them as a supplement when I have to go into the office. When working from home I can snack on healthier items like vegetables. I need to work out a plan to bring in healthier snacks with me.

I hope everyone has a wonderful remainder of their week!

Well done, CH! Maybe you could take some vegetable snacks into the office with you to have with the convenience bars? Carrots, celery, or whatever you like. I read in a book about low Glycemic Index eating that fibrous foods help to slow digestion, and keep you from feeling hungry for longer. So I now have lettuce with my lunch most days, and it does the trick for me.

I usually take in an oz of almond in a snack bag, smoked or salted. Sometimes I take sliced pepperoni!

We buy the preportioned snacks of almonds or the hubs gets the men's health mix (has different nuts) and we keep apples and bananas around because they are easy to pack and not messy. :)

I'm sure today sucked and there may be more. But, you are here now and ready to make a change. As you make those changes there will be days to celebrate your progress too. The only people who are defeated are those who don't try. I'm sure you have done lots of difficult things and succeeded. This is just one more. Difficult is not impossible. Just think how cool it will be when you gain the strength to move toward your goals. Supporting your decision to make healthy changes.
