CatHerder's Journal, 29 Dec 15

I hope everyone is doing well. I know this is a rough time for some of us as we have been overindulging during the holidays. I ate some candy on Christmas and am not sure why I did. It didn't really taste all that great. I guess that was because I hadn't had any in such a long time. It could have been that forbidden food syndrome. I'll just need to work it off and keep moving forward.

I still haven't been able to run. Actually haven't tried yet since I don't want to re-injure myself. I have been hitting the gym and lifting. Also doing eccentric curls with my injured hamstring. I have also started adding in standing leg curls. I'm going by feel, if it hurts I stop. I plan on hitting the gym at least 5 days this week and also doing some walking between rainstorms.

The new year is upon us. I'm seeing more commercials for Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. I'm not sure how well those programs compare to just doing your own diet. I know they keep throwing our the statistics that 95% of people that diet fail. I was one of those 95%, actually several times. I don't plan on being one of those this time around. I'm more determined now than ever. Down right stubborn some would say. To all of you out there, who is with me? Who doesn't want to be a statistic? Together we can do this!

Have a great day everybody.

Wow -- you're doing great keeping at it in the gym in spite of your injury. I'm with you, CH!! This is the time that WILL be different; that WILL become a lifetime change vs. a temporarily successful 'diet'. NO statistics here, no sirree!

Me too, I'm with you! I also think that if you aren't used to eating sweet foods, then when you do, all you can taste is the sugar. Sorry to hear your hamstring is still giving you grief. I guess at least you can walk.

I'm looking to be an exception to the rule. Are we all aiming to be 5%'s? :) // I know the moment I have any sort of chocolate or candy, I might as well pack up shop for the day and go home because I won't stop; and I won't care. It took a lot to avoid the carb heavy snacks/meals the past week or so with all the dinners and parties.

People usually fail because they eat diet food instead of making lifestyle changes in every aspect of their life. It's why I don't buy into the Fat & Protein Only or the protein shake diets - not a lifestyle, not a habit, just quick fixes.

You can't outrun a bad diet. If you like to run, then run, but running by itself will not get you where you want to be. If you get injured running, then don't run...walk. Commit yourself to a plan, and understand why the plan should work.

Sorry to hear you injured your hamstring - I imagine that is quite painful. But love that you are keeping a positive attitude in spite of it all. I am predicting that you will do great in the coming year!
