It provokes a hormonal reset, body recomposition, good things. Google for the carb nite solution. It works great for a lot of people and I've had results from it but being hypothyroid I was getting exhausted from lack of carbs. The solution seems to be BCAAs. I'm experimenting with them and powdered greens which seem to really hit the spot for me while enabling me to stay ultra-low carb.
