You can get vitamins and minerals in veggies that are in fruit. You should always have carbs with proteins. It slows the absorption of them. Never eat fruit without protein.

I agree with Morticia, you can get all the fruit vitamins in veg and you have the added bonus of less sugar. I rarely eat fruit and if I do it's always berries, as they are lower in carbs.

Fruit offers a lot of nutritional benefits, but if you're eating enough veggies, you should be okay nutritionally. What kind of fruit have you been eating that you're now skipping? And what quantities were you eating? You might find if you stick to some of the lower sugar ones, like berries and citrus, that you can still incorporate it if you want. And know that supermarket fruit is often HUGE to the point where one fruit is really two servings. If you're skipping fruit, I would be cognizant of incorporating some good potassium sources, since fruits are typically high in that. But no, I don't think you'll wither away and die without it 😉

I love dates myself. I wrap cacao nibs in mine. Dried fruit can add up quickly, but if you can incorporate them without going overboard, no reason not to have them. The half fruits are definitely not over the top, but if it's not working for you, so be it. Avocado is technically a fruit, and it does offer a big dose of potassium and fiber. If you're eating enough veggies, and eating a variety, you'll likely be fine. (Working in tomato and red pepper for vitamin C, I hope?) Really, all diets are about cutting back SOMEWHERE, and it's about finding where you can restrict that doesn't feel so restrictive that you can't maintain the effort. While maintaining good nutrition for your long term health, of course. With all the warring diet camps out there, someone is sure to tell you you're wrong 🤪 If cutting out the fruit helps you lose, and you're being cognizant of the nutrients you need to get elsewhere, do it. You'll be fine 😊

I eat about a pound of fresh fruit for breakfast every morning. They have plenty of fiber and water to fill me up and slow absorption. I don’t eat protein with them —just black coffee— and I now weigh less than 120 lbs. That said, fresh veggies also have tons of fiber and nutrients, so they are a good substitute. Both are heart healthy options and far better than a traditional processed carb dessert.
