How you doing Z? When one ride ends there is usually another one just waiting😂

I'm good, YOH...lol. Just confused at how I'm still losing weight averaging over 1800 calories a day. 5 days, -1 lb. Not even counting the slight anniversary gain which was water weight. Only went to the gym twice in these days. 🤔🤷‍♀️ Enjoying the ride none the less...lol. Right?!

Sounds like you are riding my ride. I just heard back from my surgeon tho and she said my loss is most likely the swelling going down and some muscle loss from the drop in activity last 7 weeks. You keep pushing on my friend sometimes our body gifts us with good news for no apparent reason

Last month I avg 929 cal/day... I stayed basically the same weight that month... I dunno what yer doin Zenus, but keep doin it, it seems to be working for you WTG :-)

Adiposemann when i got stuck i would increase my exercise or reduce my calories although some folks have success in losing by actually raising their calories depending on what your BMR is. Good luck!🍀

YOH, yes I am apparently on your ride...lol. It's crazy because I've always kept lowering my calories or fasting to lose. At this particular moment, I'm trying to hold it steady. I just upped my calories even more & weight is still dropping...smh. You still have swelling?! I can't tell by your pics at all. You look fabulous!

@Adiposemann... upping your calories for a few days might be worth a shot. It's only a few days... I have read that a certain point, your body starts trying to conserve as much energy (calories out) as possible if it feels like it is in survival mode. There is debate about this, though. 🤷‍♀️

Z and adiposemann i have read the exact same thing!! Also, Z, yes im still swollen. Probably 75 percent down but will be swollen for between 4-6 months post surgery and up to a year for the last of the swelling. My arms seem to be fine its lower abdominal upper pubic area and man does it feel tight. We are on the same experiment of raising calories to see how scale reacts. Luck to all of us 🍀

Good point Zenus, I never thought about Starvation response, since I am rather sedentary, I couldn't imagine I would be in a calorie deficit, or even weight loss could possibly trigger it. Thanks for that :-) YOH2023... “Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity" ~ Seneca~

@YOH... Wow! What an ordeal you have been through, and still going through! 💔 I couldn't imagine. The thought of just going under scares the daylights out of me. I had surgery for a tubal pregnancy once. I pure cried when the anesthesiologist came in...lol. 3-1" long incisions & I thought I would die! 😂 I'm so glad that you are well on you way to recovery! 😁 Currently, I'm working on more of a recomp/lean bulk, thus me upping my calories. ...and yes, good luck to us! 🥂🍀🤞

@Adiposemann... Everyone has a different BMR, but less than 1000 calories a day is pretty low. You definitely should be in a deficit. BMR is the amount of calories that a person burns everyday without exercise. Our body uses a good bit of energy just functioning properly, like breathing, heart beating, food digesting, etc. Even our brains use a good bit of calories.

I am 80 years old, fairly sedentary, eat about 1600 calories a day, have no forbidden foods, and lose weight. Not fast, but steady. I've just celebrated losing 100 pounds.

SHIRFLEUR!!! I didnt realize your journey was 100 pounds!!!! I am in awe of you even more than I already was. It is never ever too late to get control of our health!!!! Wow. Just wow.

Wow, congrats Shirfleur... I lost 100lbs back in the 80's using the old Atkins Diet strategy... and kept it off until it started creeping back about 8 years ago, as I had to become more sedentary. Your input made me review my weight loss compared to caloric intake... seems I was doing okay around 1300cal/day... once I dropped it under 1000 I hit a weight plateau that has stayed pretty rock solid since then. I am going to increase the intake for a week or two, and see how my system responds.

Great!

I find that when I mini plateau, I up my calories by 100-200, cut out most carbs and up fat intake for a week. It seems to help. After the one week change my body seems to realise that it has plenty and starts doing what I want it to do. Not sure this strategy will work every time, but it has so far.

Carry on-- you're making it happen with some pushes and some consolidation.
