ZenusWarriorPrincess's Journal, 21 Jun 23

Good morning, FS! 😊 64 hours into my fast, and I feel awesome! -2.8 lbs total during fasting so far. I have been planning on breaking it at 72 hrs, but I'm thinking of pushing it a little farther. I haven't decided yet. While fasting is healthy for most and comes with great health benefits, those with certain medical conditions & taking certain medications should only do it under Dr's supervision. Don't just jump into it. Research, research, research! Hope you all have a lovely day! 💜

Be careful. Fasting is great, but when you don't eat, you lose both fat and muscle. You need muscle for good health. You need muscle because it burns more calories than fat. Too little muscle and you sabotage future weight loss. I fast as well. I do 8:16 every day. First meal at 9am, last meal at 5pm. 16hr fast every day. It is slower than 36hrs, but safer.

@Penderg Thanks for the concern 😊, but according to my research the body doesn't "eat" muscle protein, not in someone who has plenty of fat stores. Autophagy occurs and "eats" damaged cells, the body produces new stem cells & they replace, recycle, or repair all of those cells. We store fat for energy. It makes no sense that our bodies would gather firewood (fat) to burn in the winter & then chop up the couch (muscle) & throw it into the fire when it gets a little cold. If that was the case, our ancestors would have went instinct. Our bodies are not that stupid. Again, thanks for the concern. 🙂

@Penderg They have fasting trackers in the app store that tells you what is occurring in your body throughout the different hours of fasting if you are interested.

You have great willpower! My friend does mega fasts for both spiritual and health reasons and has great results. 💜

@Diana Thanks! 😊 I give all of the credit to lowering my insulin, which creates crazy constant sugar cravings. Honestly... the longer the fast, the easier it gets. Probably because of high ketone production. Yes, many people fast for spiritual reasons. Even our ancestors, who knew nothing about the science behind it, knew it was beneficial. My focus, mental clarity, and energy is through the roof right now! A few weeks ago, I could barely drag myself out of bed. My mental health is also alot better! 😊

Awesome results. I watched some of the videos from the men you told me about and am thinking about trying it myself. I was also remembering that bone broth (with salt or boulion) has been reported to help with ketosis symptoms and bone broth contains collagen that may prevent sagging skin, so it is a win-win for fasting and eating keto if it doesn't break a fast.

@lineruds bone broth Is a super food! Yes, it has lots of collagen, amongst other wonderful minerals. It is great to take during a fast, if you can't seem to make it through. It doesn't stop ketosis, but it does stop autophagy. According to Dr Pradip Jamnadas, it is awesome to use for breaking a longer fast because it contains all of the minerals that will be at an up take from the blood when refeeding. If you decide to do a longer fast, be careful not to overfeed at the first meal. The digestive system will be in rest mode, and needs to wake up before a big meal.

@lineruds Thank you much! 😊

@lineruds sea salt water also helps with Keto symptoms, and doesn't break fast at all.

What pender says is true. What doesn’t make sense is just lack of knowledge. Fat is one type of fuel. There is 3 types of fuel your body operates on. Fat, glucose, phosphate Creatine. If you’re missing glucose energy your body will break down protein in your body and burn the amino acids to substitute for glucose... losing weight does not mean losing only fat. Losing lean mass will dig a hole deeper making it that much harder to lose weight next time. That is how you slow your metabolism. Fast for long periods will only encourage your body to store more efficiently next time it gets food. Store more, expend less is what you are teaching the body. “Mental clarity” is your body heightened senses to help you look for food

@Supergainz I absolutely agree, IF YOU DON'T HAVE BODY FAT STORES or are not eating dietary fat. If there are body fat stores (or dietary fat), the body uses ketones (from dietary or body fat) for energy in the absence of glucose. Thanks for the concern.

Your post was so motivational zenus. It is probably why I decided to venture on a 24 hr. One!

🙂 @29p2 Glad to have been at your service. It gets easier & easier, especially combined with keto.

@29p2 I've been fasting while cooking AT LEAST 3x a day for the kids, I can only credit keto for the control. ...but like I said... to each their own. 🙂

Don't get so worked up, Cindy. You're going to raise you cortisol, which increases appetite & sugar cravings. 😉😘

I'm SO glad I live in America where I can say whatever I want. You should be too. 🙂
