I'm so bored with counting calories... Weight loss is so tedious. We are going out to eat with friends this evening and I've already checked the menu to see what I can eat to stay in my calorie range. It's weird since I'm so in the habit of weighing and measuring everything I eat. I wish I could just enjoy the meal, have an adult drink and maybe split a dessert. Ugh! Yes, I know "it's only one meal" I could do that. The problem is I don't trust myself yet. I get off track so easily. Sort of like that one drink to an alcoholic. Lol, don't judge! Anyway, I'm just venting. Navigating my social life has been interesting. You don't think about how much food and drink is involved. Summer is around the corner and we do a lot of outdoor entertaining. Food and drink are a big part of that. I don't intend to stop having pool parties and BBQ's. I'll figure it out, I'm just tired of dealing with all the "food noise". Anyway, I slept in a little this morning and I've just about finished this cup of coffee. Going to head over to the gym for a bit and then get ready to go watch my g-daughter's swim meet. That's all the complaining I plan to do today. I will end this little rant by saying... I'm grateful to have a roof over my head, plenty to eat, decent health and family and friends to love. So many live with so little. Who am I to complain.....

You are not alone here my friend. Weight loss can be boring and hard, but it is so rewarding to see progress, even if it's slow. If you fall off the wagon, start again. it's better than just drop everything and binge. Don't surrender just yet, if your health is not enough motivation, think about your granddaughter, you want to be there for all her swimming practices or competitions. You got this!

We all go through similar times! Some days I think if I have to log one more thing I'll scream! But I still do it and the feeling passes. Losing weight is tedious but the rewards are great!

I hear you and venting is one way to deal with it for sure and know that you are not alone. Like Diana said there are times I want to scream and not do this but it does pass. I do take a break only for vacations and allow myself not to count calories. Summer is hard for me too but I have my trainer in my head and not let things be excuses. You got this!

I'm sure everyone can relate to this in some sense! i always scout menus, decide what I'm "allowed" to have and stick to it. i feel like it doesn't hurt my soul as much, if i don't look at the menu while I'm out....

I agree that weighing and measuring is tedious and boring. So, I stopped weighing and measuring and started guessing. I found that my guesses were close enough. Sometimes I start to guess low to keep my calorie count low, but I mentally remind myself that lying to myself isn't useful. Guess fair.
