Happy New Year Everybody!!!!

This is a surprise as I wasn't expecting a weight drop. I guess my body keeps its own schedule and doesn't share it.

Reflecting back on my diet and what caused me to go on this diet. I was diagnosed with diabetes in May. I had suspected I was at least pre-diabetic before then as I had all the signs, overweight, hypertension, high trig and high glucose. It didn't make a lot of sense to me to keep eating basically the way I had been eating since that's what got me into trouble. So low carb here I came. I have to say initially the diet seams daunting with going from high carbs to next to no carbs. Once I got used to it though I have to say it has been one of the easiest diets I've been on. While the food choices are limited you can add a lot of flavor to what you get to eat. I have lost nearly 80 lbs from my top weight and have dropped 10 pants sizes, going from 48 to 38.

For anyone new to the diet and this way of eating please do some research as there are a lot of online references and tips. Also remember to setup a realistic caloric deficit by finding a good energy expenditure calculator, the one on FS gives your RDI as way to high. I like the one on If It Fits In Your Macros website. There are also many other online. Use that and set your RDI manually. Remember that a pound of fat is 3500 calories so to lose one pound per week you'll need a 500 calorie per day deficit. Once that is setup then track ALL the food you eat. Measure food if possible at least at first. Then have fun on the journey.

Good luck in the coming new year to all which ever diet you end up on.
