Happy New Year Possums!

Okay so I look like I've flatlined but I haven't. Over Xmas I went up to nearly 95kg. I have worked that off in the last 2 weeks, back down to 91.

:D refusing to log when I gain is really working for me in terms of motivation. Usually I don't stick at anything once I start to fail. I confess my sin and let it go. But not confessing is meaning I am lying.. and I hate lying. So I have to turn the lie back into truth and this is powerful motivation for me.

(That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.) :D

Anyway I ate noodles last Sunday for dinner. Noodle canteen no. 8. so delicious. sigh.

I have not got back into ketosis since. My average sugars this week are 7.8mmol/l which in American is 140.58 mg/dl or 6.5%. So not insanely high... but not where it needs to get to. I need to get down to NZ 5.5 or less, being American 5.1% or 100mg/dl. I am incredibly sensitive to carbs; it takes me a week to lose 1/2 a point on the gauge if I stick brutally to 20 carbs a day or less.

I've been peeing on a stick all week and getting nowhere, no ketones at all. I can't believe how well I operate on the smell of an oily rag! Better than nuclear fission, it seems I can go a week on a teaspoon of sugar. grr.

Youtubes I have watched that are blowing my mind this week:

1. Dr Paul Mason - "Low carb from a doctor's perspective" - mind blowing. I am sharing it to all my friends, and beg everyone to watch it if you value your bodies. It's only 1/2 hr long, has pictures, is amazing and very simple to understand.

2. Uric Acid: a KEY cause of weight gain, diabetes, heart disease & dementia (Dr David Perlmutter)

https://youtu.be/QZ6jPCcFNa8

This guy is about the evolutionary response to fructose, which is as an autumn 'winter is coming!' hibernation type thing. Makes so much sense!

The two ideas together are not quite a 100% mesh, but the main points of them mesh very very well. I have dementia and diabetes type 2 in my family, everyone's been low fat and low cholesterol all my life, and it's worrying that I have a lifetime of damage to reverse in time to stave off dementia, which I can feel coming. If there is an opportunity to halt cognitive decline I am taking it.

I want to live! I'm 53 yrs old, I've spent my life on other people and dealing with my own hangups and false beliefs and expectations. If I only get 5 yrs to enjoy my existence before turning dribbler I will feel extremely robbed.
91 kg Lost so far: 12 kg.    Still to go: 6 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

Kia Ora! Lives in NZ as an exchange student long ago, in Hamilton. Went to Hillcrest high and lived near the university. Loved my time there.
