WTH???????!!!!!!! 😮😱

ALL HANDS ON DECK

Thighs have started to grow and rub together, so I pulled out the scale, to my complete horror.

In the last 3 months I've doubled my resistance band workouts, but that would only account for maybe 2 lbs. of new muscle bulk. The rest of it is thigh lard.

To reduce calories, the new plan is to switch from the current fruit-for-lunch to a lower calorie/higher protein attack of Brussel sprouts or edamame.

And lately I haven't been walking outside because of the heat, but that omission has obviously been detrimental. Will need to either walk in the morning before work or find a different (airconditioned) workout, pronto.

@Super: You're telling me? Yeah it is. Normally I eat 6 bananas, 5-6 mangos or 5 lbs. of watermelon in a day, divided over breakfast & lunch. I figure that eating a pound of Brussel sprouts for lunch instead will save me about 200 kcal, plus adding back in a 45-60 minute daily workout will burn another 300-500 kcal, depending on the intensity of the cardio. I should drop a pound a week with the adjustments.

nice work on being so in tune with your body to notice the signs and comming up with a good plan on how to correct it, can't ask for much more than that! now put your own plan In place and you will be back where you want to be in no time at all. good luck you go this

@Karen: Yup. No sense in wringing my hands and boo-hooing about it, or worse, making jokes to cover up my failure. Lunch today was a bowl of blanched asparagus with fresh mint instead of grapes. Will do a Pilates workout after work.

When is your follow up lab work?
01 Sep 22 by member: honeebuns
@Honeebuns: Follow-up Lipid panel is scheduled for next week. It was supposed to have been a month ago, but everyone in my office has been on summer vacations, so I haven't been able to request any time off. Everyone is back after Labor Day. I'm not worried about the labs, as it's been all healthy food -- just too much of it when factoring the decrease in my cardio. CICO.

@Otb and PinayRN: Was taught decades ago that we should never complain unless we can bring at least 1 solution to the table. I have 2, and have already implemented the diet change for lunch. Exercising after work, will weigh in next week at the doctor's office.

I haven’t been walking either lately and I can really tell a difference the heat is just too much for me though it’ll have to wait till it cools off

Can't imagine gaining 10 pounds eating fruit - but then I couldn't eat as much as you do. Veggies are lower in calories though. A favorite stir fry for me is asparagus, brussels sprouts and mushrooms - at least 10 grams of protein. I have a spritzer with olive oil in it and I just spritz the bottom of the wok because the calories in olive oil add up. I bet the weight will come off when you are able to walk once it cools down outside. That's what I keep telling myself.

@Storms: I don’t like getting sweaty at work, and it’s in the 90’s by the office. So plan B is in motion. @Fritzy: I don’t think it was the fruit so much as the lack of walks for the past 2 months (which is about 300 calories burned each lunch break).

@Sugarplum: I was never a fan of "small changes" or going slow. Love an attack plan. Boot camp for fast results!
