Les Girth's Journal, 17 Jul 21

Well, I held it together through all of yesterday. Another stellar day, meaning calorie intake was less than 1,000 and exercise was about 4 hours at an estimated burn rate of 300 calories/hr.
94.3 kg Lost so far: 25.5 kg.    Still to go: 8.1 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

I wish I did for a week, awesome! Except here is 41 Celsius. But we are determined. We can do it! Such an inspiration!

Less than 1K of calories a day does not sound safe to me.

Less than 1000 calories and 4 hours of exercise is a sickness not healthy. You need to speak to a nutritionist. This is disordered eating and thinking. A woman shouldn’t even be eating this little and no one should be exercising that much with that little fuel. You are going to do severe damage to your endocrine system amongst of a whole host of other things. Anyone supporting this behavior on here should be ashamed and doesn’t have a clue what they are talking about.

I am under a doctor's constant care and she is an obesity specialist at a teaching hospital. She has me on a diet/eating plan under 1,000 cal. Self proclaimed experts giving their pronouncements and unsolicited advice are WHAT'S DANGEROUS ON HERE

Sorry Les, but yes, Zkmanz is so correct. We hope you've talked to your Dr.

I agree with zkmanz as well! as far as kmg1123 saying they are under a dr's care and their dr said they could be under 1k a day BUT did your dr. also say to exercise 4 HOURS a day?! thats what the difference is!

kmg1123 Are you a woman? How tall are you? How old are you? How much are you exercising per day? All of these are important questions, but from Les Girth posted I can infer some specifics about him and his starting weight. No I’m not a doctor but most doctors have virtually no experience with nutrition (most get less than a week training in medical school, shit I got more time in a personal training cert us all the research I’ve done on my own) hence why I think he should be talking to a nutritionist/dietician. Maybe my advice is “unsolicited” but no one told him to post this nonsense on this forum either so if you don’t want to hear the other side (in this case the logical side) then don’t post on this site. You should want people on here who actually not only want to succeed in their weight loss journey but who want them to do it safely.

Glad you have been successful at the goals you have set for yourself. This site is not made to tell the whole story. Is it?

Thanks everyone. Yes, I'm under a Physician's care. I was given a clean bill of health, except for my weight. Doc approves of my progress. I eat the right foods (...mostly) and take supplements that he suggested. Obesity was the biggest threat to my health. I started last October obese and not feeling well. Today, I'm closing in on normal weight and feel better than I have a very long time. But, as was pointed out, consult with your Physician before starting. This isn't something that you want to do by yourself without medical consultation.

I should also clarify that my exercise varies between 3 and 4 hours per day. I'm retired, so I have the time. A typical day is 1 hour of bike riding with 2 to 3 hours of pickleball (a little like playing tennis). Playing results in 20 mintue bursts with about 5 minutes of rest in between. It's good exercise, but not overly strenuous. I'm 62, male, and in great health except for my weight. It is the biggest threat to my health and I'm addressing it.

Good for you Les! Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing to keep us all motivated! (And updated) we only look out for our FS friends and even though (including myself a lot lately) want to loose these pounds quickly we know that we have to do it the safe and healthy way! Good job for you! 💕
