Not a very significant loss, but I'll take it!

I don't have any ground beef anymore and I have been too lazy to go to the grocery store lately. I had some grocery bought online delivered to my door, but it is expensive and more complicated than buying non-grocery stuff online, so I will have to make an effort and go to an actual grocery store. With the curfew, it will have to be today! At least it is sunny, even if it is cold (-15 to -20 C, close to 0 in F).

I have been eating a lot of chicken lately, some that I had delivered from the grocery store, some from takeout (chicken wings). I still think I eat too much from takeout, but I decreased the sweet stuff (low carb friendly) and eat the same breakfast, which means alternating between a keto coffee and eggs-cheese-bacon. I should also watch my portions because I am a big eater. For example, I am able to eat 24 chicken wings all by myself, just like I did last night!

I have also been chewing too much gum! Sometimes when I chew too many pieces, they can work like the perfect laxative, but it does not always work that way and oftentimes I just have bloating.

Like most people, I am feeling a bit of COVID fatigue. I rarely go outside as there is nothing to do. My friend is always complaining about the restrictions, mostly the new ones pertaining to travel, but I don't really care because I could not really afford to travel pre-pandemic. I still have debt to pay and I cannot move provinces (I live in Quebec and I wish I could move to Ontario), as my lease is already renewed for another year and life in Ontario is twice as expensive.

However, aside from a couple of things, such as more general control of everything from the provincial government and crappy access to healthcare, Quebec is probably the most inexpensive place to live in Canada, in spite of the higher income tax, so I can't really complain. Cheaper daycare (even the private ones), cheaper post-secondary schooling, buying a house or renting an apartment can be half as expensive only, cheaper home and car insurance, cheaper electricity bill and some other things I am probably forgetting right now.

For the same salary, if you do not have debt, you can travel twice as much if you live in Quebec (based on my observation from coworkers who live in Quebec compared to those who live in Ontario). And when you go to the liquor store, you are much less likely to be carded in Quebec if you are a young-looking adult (based on my personal experience). But then again, alcohol is a luxury and not a necessity.

I still have my mind set on Ontario for the future, because after the pandemic I doubt that the healthcare situation will improve much in Quebec, especially in the Gatineau area, where I live. It is a bit better in Montreal, but I really don't like what this city (in fact, the entire island) is becoming and I don't wish to ever live back there. So it will be Ottawa or its surroundings, within the next 5 years I hope!

Sorry for the long novel! Even if no one reads this, it feels a bit like a diary. Sometimes I have a lot to write, sometimes I don't.

It is your journal so you can put down all your thoughts and musings. I lived in Hull for a very short time long time ago. What I enjoyed most about Quebec was how relaxed people were and social and how they sat on their porches. Not sure if that is still true. Good job on turning around the weight trend. It is too easy to get too lax. I know. I review my choices a lot and think about how to do things better. I am a bit eater too. But I do not worry about protein...Sometimes I worry about the amount though...Hope you make it to the store and have a good weekend

I write mini novels from time to time, it's your journal, feel free to write it out loud and do what you need to do!

I like reading your "novels". If people don't want to, they know how to scroll. When I lived in Ontario, my asthma was horrible. Now in the Maritimes, I've (*knock on wood*) not had to rush to the ER every winter.

I feel your pain. It took living here for 8 years in Gatineau to finally find a doctor. and walk-in clinics are non existent!

Actually, I quite enjoyed that 'novel'! Especially the breakdown of Quebec/Ontario expenses. I live in Orangeville, Northwest of Toronto, which is referred to as a 'bedroom community', meaning it is where people live and drive South to work in the city. So, since there is next to no commercial input to help with the infrastructure thru taxes, we pay for our municipal costs by having among the highest residential taxes in Ontario.

I always enjoy posts, I realize how great humans can be and most of them think just like I do. This is called a journal Moufette, so journal away! These are often better reads than a book because it’s true life. 👍❤️
