melissatwa's Journal, 27 Dec 20

I'm happy to be back to blue and close to returning to "goal," however I fasted yesterday. I know there will be some upward scale movement yet to come. I've avoided both the bathroom scale and kitchen scale for the better part of a week. I've got some work to do. Within this coming week, two of my kids have their birthdays and there is New Year's. I sure don't feel like being careful, but... I must be more careful or I will be quite unhappy with the results. I'd like to do a solid month of recording my weight daily, or at least more often than weekly. Onward we trudge!!! 😁

Hi Melissa. I hear you on the constant back and forth. But it is pretty much how things are. It is so much more easier to put on the weight than it is to take it off. And one has to be on top of it and willing to do it. Hope you guys have celebrations. Precious things those kid birthdays even if the kids are getting bigger.

You're down almost 4 lbs. from just a few days ago! A lot of this up & down is water & temporary gains. You know what to do & have proven you can do it! Enjoy your kids' Birthdays with them....enjoy New Years. You can get back to normal in January...like the rest of us....and achieve goal again. 😊❤💖

You are inspiring me to get back on the scale! The sugary stuff is so hard to avoid when celebrating.

Iiv, I'm almost surprised I'm not up more. I guess not stuffing myself has become more of a habit than I thought. We will have a nice dinner and dessert for each of the bday girls. We can't host a party for sure, but we will enjoy our family time. I do miss the days of a house packed with the kids' friends... Not just for birthdays but frequently weekly. Hosting... Baking... Cooking for crowds of college kids is the worst part of covid restrictions for me.

Thank you CanadianAce! SherryeB, it sure is an up and down journey. I am not disturbed that the weight may not be enormously different from. "normal" but I feel fluffy. It is the exercise I really, really have to ramp up. When I first lost weight, I was always terrified if I saw the scale move up. I feared it was the "slippery slope" to regaining it all. I am still nervous when it happens, but I am determined enough to not get out of control after working at it so hard for two years.

Thanks, Jenny and Jazzy! Yes, the sweet, high calorie stuff does call for sure. I have enjoyed a lot of treats, but I do feel ready to get back to a normal, whole food, less processed life! 😁

Yay! Back to blue!!! I found it difficult to reign it back in after a couple higher cal days. You can do it Melissa!!! Enjoy the birthday and New Year, then you'll likely feel motivated in 2021!!!

Melissa did you fast the whole day? It's been a while since I even did a sixteen-hour fast. My husband tempted me with pizza tonight (parma ham, goat cheese, parmesan, and basil) so I was nearer maintenance than diet cals, though I limited myself to once slice (he ate seven. SEVEN)

Thank you, bearnoggin! Yes, we can do it! Getting through the end of 2020 is a goal everyone has I think. A new year with new hope and renewed determination!

Oh goodness, LC! Sounds like a man for you! My hubby has no limit to the amount of pizza he can consume! Yes, it was probably a 30 some hour fast. I find it helps my mindset and also physically as I reset after a few endulgant days. It isn't a punishment at all. It is just feels good to drink water and flush out the salt and bloat that comes to me when eating off my normal plan.

I know I am up again , but if I strayed, I also worked it off. Still it is disheartening to see the scale rise. I know it is water, but all the same.......I had a couple of break even days.....just a set back of a couple days....which is what on the grand scale of things?

Melissa been meaning to ask did you ever try a glucosamine suppliment? I wasn't sure it was doing anything. Last week I ran out and after 3 days my knees were hurting. So it's helping me.

Fiberoptic, so long as the weight on the scale isn't too grand, right? 😁 I havent tried glucosamine, #One. Because the problem is tendon related rather than arthritis or something, I don't know that it would be all that much help. I am so glad it is helping you!

Thanks Keilin and Shrewdness! Good luck on your fast and weight in, shrewdness!

I have not much will to restrict what I eat right now, so I admire your determination!! But I am planning on doing Daniel's fast after our Christmas celebrations are over. Last year I did it along with other FS members and it felt good, although I had caffeine withdrawal headaches during the first week.
