Day 1 of a planned 5 days of mostly ‘no solid food’ fasting

I have been working on a theory that the length of time, in-a-row, I stick to the diet the better the results. Meaning , it is not about the total amount of carbs (or even calories), but the ‘length of the streak’.

So, next week I plan to go 7 days of mostly ‘no solid food’ fasting, rather than the usual 5.

But this week, let’s see what happens…

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

You found a scale! I like theories and testing them out. OK... here is my thought... is length and amounts not the same thing? Staying away from high carbs longer just means you eat less carb? Maybe my brain is muddling this up?

@liv001 - The test is to see if, at only 20 carbs a day, I lose only 4 pounds in 5 days, but 8 pounds in 7 days. This is what my results were like when I was fasting two years ago and would go 7-11 days at a time. However, I have a 'special event' every week for the next few weeks so I wont get an opportunity to do 7 strait days for a few weeks.

I'll carry the 7 day torch for you this time. If you did it, I can do it. 44 hrs 47 min 19 sec in of my 168 hr fast. ((14 May 18)) The last day you will ever see 200 lbs. I am inspired!!!

Agreed, long term consistency is what seems to work for me = long term gains.

Adef, try an egg fast, it will break your stall and/or plateau. It is a well known Keto trick and a very simple fast to do. I do them often, mostly to combat a bad day of eating and wanting to make sure I don't get kicked out of Ketosis because of the bad day, works like a charm every time!! Just google "egg fast".

I will not do

@lmh2882 - My problem is once I start eating any solid food other tan pickles I risk going on an 'eating binge'. The 'no solid food fast' works, I just need to do it for more days in a row to get a 'weekly net loss'. Right now I am staying 'even'. Normally , that is not an issue, unless you are 10lbs heavier than you were last year :)

I suspect it's difficult to binge on eggs during an "egg fast", because you get so tired of them . . .

The first time I did Keto, eggs were the hands down winner, boiled, omelets, scrambled, fried. A few hard boiled eggs + a protein drink and I'm full for a while. Eggs and protein are the way to break eating binges and lose weight. Protein actually signals the body to stop eating.

Dawg you are right! Gz, egg fasts are very easy to do as long as you like eggs, there are many ways to cook them, like Dawg listed. The beauty of the egg fast is the percentage of fat/protein/carbs, that is why it works to break a stall/plateau when doing Keto. For me, if I have a bad eating day, it slams my body back into submission before the overload of carbs, I ate the day before, has a chance to throw me out of Ketosis. Great for cheat days!!!

have you calculated the amount of water your losing when you switch back to low carb each time? how much is stored glycogen/water your flushing? 👀
28 Jan 20 by member: jenjabba
@jenjabba - I don't think there is a way to calculate that. I look at my weekly numbers that should account for the water fluctuations.
