Day 2 of a planned 2 days of eating

I got my 11 mile 🏃🏾‍♂‍ run in yesterday 😁🙌🏾

Yesterday I did one of those -click-links-and-fall-down-a-click-stream-hole and looked at a bunch of pictures of some “ultra-fitness” people. In the past, when I had been obese all my life, I wanted to look like them sooo bad.

Now, going into my third year of not being obese, I look at them and think “Yeah, I will never get there unless I am willing to do {Insert more change sacrifice and dedication}…”

I know in my heart, Its not there. At 50+ years of age, I know I am hitting a period of ‘diminishing returns’. I want to be happy. I am no longer obese, so I will be happy with that. There are a lot of other things I want to dedicate my life to. I am simply not willing to *turn it up a notch more*.

I *am* willing to do my best to reverse this gradual weight gain however 😆

So, the ‘no solid food fast’ during the week will remain…

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

@Adef - you are doing great. Now, before going further in my response, let me say that whatever makes you happy, be happy, and don't listen to the rest of this ... but, what i will say is you can do and be however/whatever you want to be - and you can get to a level that far surpasses what you think you are capable of ... we are the same age. i believe i can get to where i want to be, it just takes longer. i only mention this because we are only limited by our own mind. how you talk to yourself determines the outcome. you run 11 miles for a workout! that's amazing. based on that, i think you can do whatever you want. you are doing fantastic, man! while i sometimes feel current age decade i am in has some limitations - i think they are few - and there are many more productive years of body recomp i am capable of - work smarter is what what i tell myself. have a great day, man!

@br_e_co - Perhaps at a future date I will feel differently. This is just where I am at now :)

For sure, @Adef. Not trying to suggest otherwise. you are doing great, more than i could imagine for myself.

@br_e_co - I understand, and I don't disagree with you :) I am actually surprised I feel this way now. I thought I would always want-to-get-the-ultimate-body. But, I may even get to the gym and do some weight lifting today. However, I will not try to 'lift my max'. I will probably only squat #200 and deadlift #230 when I know I can squat #240 and deadlift #300. To hit my max levels I have to hit the gym 2-3 times a week for weeks and lift in that range. I also need to be sufficiently 'carbed up' because these lifts require 'sufficient glycogen'. I simply cannot do 11 mile runs during this period (this depletes glycogen) - - This is where I found a huge problem (1) I am 'carbing up' - this is not good for me. (2) I am not doing long runs - mentally this is not making me happy (3) Deadlifing #300 is *hard* and *hurts* - I am really not 'enjoying myself' - - After reflecting on all this, I had to ask myself "What am I doing and why?"

@br_e_co - This is just 'journaling stuff' and 'feelings' not 'facts'. Later I may look back on this and feel differently 😁

Very impressed with the run! It's good for people to have passions and goals but as far as lifting the max it isn't needed unless it's a goal. I believe that being functional is very important. I like to support people who respect others and who are nice but if these people have goals and are on their way to reach them or have reached them then I am so happy for them.

Wow !!! HR 177 bpm !!! I never saw more than 145. Average 165 !!! For 1h 45m !!! My best one is 122 for 3h 30m. I wish i could achieve numbers like yours too. You are obviously in a very good condition. Would you mind asking your rest hr ?

@Tassos67 - Thanks. Good job on your runs :) 51-64bpm is my average resting heart rate. Yeah the reason I like running so much is that there is no other way to get my heart rate that high for that length of time. Afterwards I dropped 4 pounds. The next day I was still down 2 pounds.

@Tassos67 - There is a very-steep-hill halfway through my run. I mean this thing is no joke and it is nearly half a mile. So, you either turn around and go back, or you run up the hill. That is where I probably hit the 177bpm...

I feel you, @adefwebserver. Obviously, you're in far better condition than the average Joe/Jane. When I was the best shape of my life, I recall criticizing myself for not measuring up to athletes that were at an elite level. What a waste of energy that was!

(cont.) Nowadays, I'm not at that level, but I can appreciate my fitness where it currently stands. Do I have the capacity to be fitter? Yes. Do I know what that would entail? Also yes. And after an honest assessment of what that would entail, I can say with complete confidence, and without apology, that that just doesn't fit within my current priorities. I do what I can, and I know that I look and feel good, and...that's enough for me. Maybe I'll change my mind at some other point, but for now, well, I've got much bigger fish to fry, and I'm not at all sorry!
