I had a good workout today. I'm now trying taping my knees before working on legs. I have arthritis of the patella, and have noticed increase swelling at the inferior border of the patella. I suspect that some of what I'm doing (today included squats with 75 pounds of weight on my back/shoulders) is probably making it worse, but I feel that if I don't exercise it will get worse anyway and I'll have no muscle. I hope taping them protects them enough.
Weight is fluctuating a bit, but always does. I'll be happy with a pound down this week.

jcmama, I just follow the Mediterranean diet most of the time and limit portions. I was on glucosamine and chondroitin for some years, but felt it really didn't help. I just try to get enough protein and calcium. Getting my weight low was my best response to arthritis. Debbie, I take over-the-counter Aleve (slightly lower dose of Naproxen) when I need it, but fortunately that isn't often. It doesn't hurt when I work out, but if I hit the knee on something in day-to-day life, it is a momentary severe pain. My back and joints actually feel better since I've been working out regularly.
