Thinking about your 11 mile ride the other day brought up memories of when my friend coaxed me into running a half marathon. I really didn't know if I could do it, but it went better than I thought. That lit the fire for a 4 month training to do the whole enchilada. I foresee one of those in your future :)

See if you can find a half marathon somewhere, close enough to drive to. Probably have to wait to summer. It was the energy and people in that half marathon that lit the fire to train for the whole one. The training was slow and gradual, as it should be, not too fast, to build up distance, without injury, took about four months. It's going to be one of the most memorable experiences of your life. The whole city comes out to cheer you on. Amazing.
