Day 5 of a planned 5 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting

I Finally made it to the gym yesterday. I decided to do my deadlifts first. I was able to do my sets at 275lbs so I was feeling good and obviously no loss of strength after taking two weeks off. However, when I started my squats I-hit-the-wall.

The energy just wasn’t there. I had not carbed up at all and I simply did not have sufficient glycogen to complete my normal workout. I could have simply reduced the weight, but, my main goal these days is weight loss, so emptying my glycogen is helpful in that regard (this is why I didn’t carb up before the workout in the first place).

I just don’t have the motivation to *lift weights to get bulked out*. I’m 51 years old, how ‘bulked out’ am I likely to get anyway?

Yeah, I just need to get my weight back down to the low 160s and just be happy with that…

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

I think so. I also remind myself of my own goals and limits when working out. It is easy to get distracted by the trends. Glad you made gym. Working out is good for your cells!!!!

I think that it is a healthy outlook to not want to bulk out. What is important is to exercise and not experience a loss of muscle and of course keeping the weight down. So, well done!

@liv001, @Ireland-83 - Thank You! Yeah there is a price to pay for 'fueling up' to work our heavy. I had to come to a point where I asked myself "What is the end goal here?"

@HCB - Thanks! My 'net weight' is *up* for the last 7 days however :( But, it could be a lot worse. I ate like a maniac for 4 days last week.

Goals in perspective 👍👍 I’m glad you got your dead’s in 😁😁😁 I don’t know why, but I think they are the best exercise. I have taught 2 other girls at the gym how to correct their form 😇👩‍🏫 lol I noticed today that there are at least 4 ppl deadlifting every time I’m there. It’s a beautiful thing 😍

'What is the end goal here?' is a great question to ask because the goal can easily get lost in all the other stuff - here's to meeting your end goal :)

@CrashtestDawnie - I fully agree. Deadlifts are the best weightlifting exercise 👍🏾.
