Day 1 of a planned 2 days of eating

Yesterday I went through the drive-thru at McDonald’s. I haven’t done that in such a long time, I honestly can’t remember the last time I did that. I know it was back in 2018. I only ordered small French fries.

“Is that all?” the order taker asked.
“Yes, that’s all” I replied.

It was $1.89. The fries were good. Totally hit the spot.

I wanted to get a hamburger, but instead I went to Flame Broiler and got a side of angus beef and a side of chicken. I probably would have ended the day with a weight loss, but, I had some fudge brownies a co-worker brought in, early in the morning, and that started ‘binging’ on protein shakes throughout the day. So binging on protein shakes during the day *and* eating a full dinner at night had me at 80 carbs and 144g of Protein! This will *not* lead to weight loss.

Calories were not bad. My calculations have me at a *calorie deficit* for the day. But, massive amounts of my data have shown me that there is no direct relation to my calories and weight gain or loss (not surprising because my weight gain or loss is primarily influenced by water and water-has-no-calories). Massive amounts of my data have shown that the level of carbs (and Protein!) that I take in *do* affect the water in my body (and therefore my weight because the body requires water to bind the glycogen created by the glucose produced from the carbs).

This is how a person like me, who has been obese all their adult lives manages to *not* be obese for an entire year. Do I listen to people who tell me that I am “wrong” or that I am “mistaken”?

MacD fries are good. Yeah a lot of experts around but I think most people are in your shoes, we just recommend what worked for us and some of us think that is the only way to lose but obviously it is not. Losing weight is a complicated matter involving our personality as well. You do you!!! Have a great day

@liv001 - Yes I know you 'get it'. My comments are directed actually to others like me who endure a **barrage** of what I consider 'bullying' comments criticizing them on their journals because they question CICO (Calories In Calories Out). What happens is that these people stop posting to their journals. For me, I *started losing weight only when I started journaling everyday* So, it would be --really bad-- for me to stop journaling! - - I have two rules to address this: (1) I don't comment on someone else's journal to criticize or argue with them (2) I hit the DELETE button on **any** comments on --MY-- journal that I feel are 'bullying'. There are people who's comments I won't even read. I just hit the delete button as soon as I see their name.

Good for you ordering just the fries and not feeling like you have to build a meal around it to justify the stop.

@FullaBella - Yes! You get it. That-is-the-point! I feel 'stupid' ordering something for only $1.89 but eating 80 more carbs just so I don't look stupid... would-be-stupid 😜

Thanks for your comments here. Agree that no one has the right to bully anyone here. People should probably report comments if they are inappropriate more.

Oh I certainly do. Sometimes I want just a couple of spoons of ice cream but it's impossible to order 1/8th of a blizzard. Stay true to what you want and don't sorry about the drive thru cashier's opinion.

I get the "IS THAT IT?" comment when I order a cone at McDonald's drive thru too. Keep in mind they have to ask if thats all even if you order 20 Happy Meals. It is policy to verify the order is complete.

Completely agree with your way of keeping 'your garden' enjoyable. Weed out what do not belong. Feel I need to weed more, in order to enjoy record keeping here on FS. Awhile back I had to unsubscribe to all cooking related channels on youtube. Kept my youtube completely food free for a long time. Only recently I've started subscribing to a small handful of german butcher channels. Keep the fight strong, we'll do this despite the wind and weeds.

@ConiMN - Yes, I kinda felt sorry for the order taker. She could tell I was trying to 'diet' but, she was just doing her job :)

@FullaBella - I decided to have some ice cream yesterday. First time in 2019. Unfortunately I had to buy the full container... and I ate the full container (sigh). So I proved once again that I must not 'buy' the food if I don't want to eat it *all*
