Day 1 of a planned 4 days of ‘water’ fasting

Yesterday I 🏋🏾‍♂️ worked out (squats at 200lbs and deadlifts at 230lbs) and then 🏃🏾‍♂️ ran 11 miles at a 10:13 pace. The distance isn’t that important, what was important was pegging my heartrate at 156bpm for nearly 2 solid hours. This helps deplete my glycogen stores and will eventually force my body to start burning some fat.

Some people can efficiently turn carbs into glycogen and consume it, others, like me store-much-of-it-as-fat. It seems the only thing that slows this process down is when I get to around 230 pounds (my weight 7 years ago), and I burn more just lugging that extra 60 pounds around all day long. Now I can only burn this stuff by running… hard. The gym helps, but, I’m not willing to spend more than an hour a week. That will not even begin to be sufficient.

This week my goal is to water fast during the day and run. Anything less and my body will just crash my metabolism and try to conserve energy. Haha!

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

Keep us informed on how you are doing; it's hard to imagine running 10 miles fasted! More power to you!

Awesome run effort Adef...I hear you on the glycogen depletion "project". A bit of encouragement, I was very similiar re fat storage plus insulin resistant, it did get sorted out over time and consistent depletion.

@erikahollister - The 11 mile run I did on Sunday was not fasted :) My morning run today was, but that was only 3 miles. I don't think I could do 10 miles fasted :)

As long as you feel good, I'm all for whatever works...you know that...but...lol, why aren't you interested in working out at the gym instead of running for hours, you could be lifting...does it not provide the same payout for you?? Or do you just hate the gym lol?? I think I've asked this before but I'm senile and can't remember the answer.

@katies71 - As far as 'enjoyment' lifting weights in the gym is not even close to a long run listening to good music :)
