Day 4 of a planned 5 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting
Blood sugar 108 mg/dL

I didn’t 🏃🏾‍♂️ run yesterday because of the 🌧 rain and because of the 🌧 rain I didn’t even get a chance to walk ☹

Also, I had to give a presentation at a meeting where they served 🍕 Pizza. I didn’t give in, but, only because when I am on a ‘no solid food fast’ I allow myself to have ‘anything’ as long is it is not ‘solid food’.

So, I ended up having some ☕ hot chocolate. This does *not* help my diet, the carbs are insane, but, it would have taken me 4 slices of pizza to make me feel full if I had the pizza instead.

I need to try to run for the next 5 days. That will get the scale moving more…

@Keilin_4 - I ordered a large and drank it slow. I was able to 'feel' the sugar hit. Normally I only consume Splenda, so the real sugar in the hot chocolate really 'hit me' so, I only drank half Haha

Well, that is great! 😀 And talking about fake sugar, I am a little tired of mine. Does splenda taste good? I have tried stevia and others

I was drinking bitter coffee before, but when I switched to decaf coffee I started using fake sugar and coffee creamer. 🤷‍♀️

@Keilin_4 - "Granulated Splenda' taste great. However, I have read that it is because it actually contains carbs (but is such low amounts it doesn't spike me when I take blood sugar readings after consuming it). I have tried over 10 different versions of 'non-granulated' Splenda and they taste awful to me. ALL artificial sweeteners taste 'bitter' to me. Without Splenda I would probably be fat because I would be back to 'literally' consuming more than a cup a sugar a day 🥺

Jumm, I will have to try it, or just drink my fake coffee bitter, haha . HardDays, I did 😁 I was drinking way too much coffee.

@Kelin -- I just question the presuppositions --- what are jitters and heart palpitations when you can have another cup o' joe! "Oh slip me a slug from that wonderful mug/ And I'll cut a rug just snug in a jug"! ;)

Hahaha, coffee is life, I know, I don't even tell people that I am caffeine free now, they are going to think that I am nuts, this is the only place I can be myself without worrying about the criticism 😜. And if you ask me what are the benefits of not drinking coffee, I don't know yet, well, I don't longer get headaches if I don't finish my pot of coffee.

Ahh sugar rush. Always feels weird. It is a reminder how fast sugar gets picked by your body, ins't it. Probably one of the many reasons we are drawn to it.

@Kellin - I was the same the better part of a year - no coffee. Sometimes just tea, lemon water and then finally just water. I didn't really miss it although I have resumed it now. No noticeable difference.

Stevia tastes bitter in hot drinks, I prefer erythritol or xylitol. When confronted with pizza, I scrape off the toppings and eat them with salad.

I keep thinking I should do that with a pizza. My logic tells me just cook pepperoni and cheese but it's just not the same taste is it?

You can do that in the microwave bella - place pepperoni on a circle on a plate slight overlapping. Heat it a bit and then add cheese and tomato and some spices. Sometimes that does the trick. Or heat a few pieces of tomato in the pan, put some pepperoni and cheese on top of those.

I have hot chocolate every day and when I do a fast I usually don't have it. But the last time I had the hot chocolate for 2 of the 3 days simply because I didn't want the milk to go bad! Didn't hurt me since nothing else I drank had any calories.
