Day 3 of a planned 5 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting
Blood sugar 95 mg/dL

I 🏃🏾‍♂️ ran yesterday, the only day in the last 4 days ☹ and now it is 🌧 raining ☹☹

I tried to stick to my “Splenda, Heavy Cream, and hot water shakes”, but I felt really low because a friend is facing some serious medical issues. This ‘spun me out’, and I needed ‘something’ to… what? Just ‘something’...

In the past I would have done two 330 calorie 30 carb bags of Cheetos and went from there. But, yesterday my ‘binge’ was to just put Protein back in my protein shakes.

I will always get upset, I will always go into ‘binge mode’. So, ‘not binging’ is never my ‘plan’ 😊 For me this would be hubris.

Do I really think that, using my intellect, that I can ‘control’ my emotions? If I accept that I can’t ‘control’ my emotions, do I believe that I can ‘control’ my ‘response’ to them?

Not eating two bags of Cheetos is not ‘controlling’ my response to my emotions, it was doing “my best” to minimize the undesired effects of my mortal response to my emotions. Just because I can’t ‘control’ myself (because I am just ‘a mere mortal’), doesn’t mean I therefore have to be fat.

However, what works for me today may not work in the future. As I get older my body will change. I could get injured and ‘running for weight loss’ may no longer be an option. Therefore, my current weight is always only a blessing to be grateful for today.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

From one mere mortal to another, good job in figuring it out and allowing yourself options. Sorry to hear your friend is going through a hard time. ❤

Good reasoning. Yeah we are mortals and there are so many considerations. Hope your friend will get better.

@Becc@, @liv001 - Thank you! - - Just found out my friend will have surgery today and will need 3+ weeks to recover. However, until now I had not heard anything for 5 days and I was assuming the worst. Anyway, so happy now 😃. Yes surgery is dangerous, but now there is 'hope' that my friend CAN have a full recovery. This is a blessing that I am grateful for. - - Emotions are now high again. And yeah, I want... 'something'. I want to 'eat' to 'binge'. I'm going to have a protein coffee and then let these emotions pass.

I've often wondered about the connection between emotions and the instinct to comfort with food. Is it a holdover from the cookie we were soothed with when we skinned our knees or got shoved on the playground? Or is it some adrenalin insulin release combination making the body sense a need to go into survival mode?

@FullaBella - I'm gonna go with "adrenalin insulin release" :) Food, sex, 'bungie jumping' it's all the same 😎

I had to look up hubris. I like that you allow yourself mortal error, and expect it. I am sorry about your friend but glad they’re going to be okay. In thinking about you! ❤️
