Day 5 of a planned 5 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting
Blood sugar 115 mg/dL

My lowest weight in 4 months 😁

For me, tracking everything every day, and then looking back on the data (this is the key part), is what gets me 'motivated'. Only when looking at the data am I motivated to STOP doing things that-don't-work-for-me.

I really had to ignore the advice from others. Now, I am always up to taking ‘suggestions’, and trying new things, but, if I try something, and may data shows that it doesn’t work, I stop doing it, no matter what anyone else says.

If Keto or fasting makes you feel ‘unhappy’, if it were me, I would not do it! Doesn’t matter if it works for others. It doesn’t matter at all. I would try something else, and I would not listen to anyone who says otherwise.

People who really care about you would not belittle you, insult you, or harass you.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

Yes Sir, you are so on target! I call it "Quiet Confidence". Let them talk, most of the time they just want to hear themselves talk, and then I go on to do what I have to do. I came across this a lot some back when I choose not to go with conventional cancer treatment. I am grateful for the entire experience, because it taught me a lot about myself and others. 😊Good for you on the lowest in 4 months! 👍

Congratulations with your weightloss. Wonderful. I agree about the doing what is right but I do not think dieting is really going to be pleasurable no matter how we do it. Eating is pleasurable. But finding what we can live with and do is important. I feel a bit bad when people attack others for their eating. I do not care because I am confident in what I am doing but many people are very vulnerable here. This may be the only place they open up and then to be criticized can be quite impactful. But thankfully overall this is a very good place to be.

@liv001 - Yes 95%+ of the comments I see on this site are what I would consider 'supportive' :) -- I acknowledge that, in the end, it is up to *me* to not be influenced by the negative comments, because they are not going to go away :) -- I feel I do understand your point about dieting, however, after thinking about it just now, I think 'overall' I -dislike- my 'eating binges' more than I dislike the 'effort of dieting'. So, for me, I am *happier* during the week when I am 'dieting'. But, I do see your point, when 'eating', it is 'pleasurable'. That is a basic human instinct that is programmed into us for survival.

I get you on the binges. I can lose control and graze at all hours - that has happened and yes the consequences and guilt about that is hard so I see where you are coming from.

Good job finding your path Adef...losing weight and maintenance takes effort, sometimes it is "hard"... however so is fighting every day to pack around extra pounds, maybe having your health painfully impacted. My hope is that everyone can find a path that works best for them, whatever that path may be.

Yesterday I felt like grazing, just jonesing for "something" to satisfy me... I find now though that I make better grazing choices, instead of reaching for something that will really de-rail me. I also really am learning to look inside to see why I am eating when I'm not hungry... it sure is a process. Congratulations on your success!!

+1 on looking at the data being motivating -- absolutely -- if I don't record what's happening I'm lost and my motivation drops to almost nothing. +1 on people who love you do not belittle, insult or harass --- if in a relationship with someone like that, RLH.

I agree. You have to find what works for you and stick to it. Tracking my food keeps me honest with myself.
