jaime30024's Journal, 21 Feb 19

Thank you all for the support on my journal yesterday and all the comments. I didn't realize that the picture that I shared would create such a stir. I recalled this picture and googled it because as I started to journal it was the one that (out of the blue) came to mind. I can relate to this picture and feel like I am pulling the healthier me out.

I appreciate all of you that gave me such positive feedback and I appreciate that you didn't try to judge where I was going with the photo. I won't address everyone individually, but your comments evoked these thoughts from me.

Keto is for my health. My research (this is just based on my research) reflects that one of the best lifestyle diets to follow (for menopause) is Keto. This is what I am focused on. I truly believe that sugar and carbs feed cancer. That was reiterated to me when my (God rest her beautiful soul) sweet Mama went for an MRI of her tumor and they asked her if she had eaten and what she had eaten. When she told them potatoes they told her to come back another day because it would look like her body was eaten up with cancer. Aside from cancer being prevalent in my family there is also Type 2 Diabetes. I had been good enough, thus far, to escape that one but needed to get serious. The loss of my Mama and then the surgical menopause were kicks in the teeth to get my shit together.

For those of you that found the photo inspiring, thank you. That is how I see it as inspiring. It is art (as one comment pointed out) and as we all know art is subjective to the viewer. For me I cannot see how anyone could ever see this as less than beautiful or inspiring, but I think sometimes that depends on your current state of mind and view of your ownself, too. Some of you truly 'got me' and 'nailed it'. For me this piece reflects someone that is finally in control of themselves, in control of their health and as such in control of their self-worth. Someone that has slowed down enough to take the time for themselves and realize that they are important and if they aren't healthy they REALLY cannot help anyone else. Yes, I want long term results that also look good. Keto makes me feel better, it makes me healthier and stronger and bonus points it is making me lose weight. I would lie if I didn't say that didn't make me feel better, too.

I try really hard not to hinge everything on a number on the scale, but I do want to be under 200#. I do not have a goal date for that because I will continue to live right and take care of myself and all the rest will follow as it should. Most importantly is my overall health. My ability to cope and handle this surgical menopause. Being healthy so I can hopefully be around for my daughter for much longer than my sweet Mama was able to be around for us. Yes, the rest will all work itself out. My body will shed what weight it is supposed to in due time. The scale is just that. I had another NSV as I pulled a 'small' size 12 out of my closet and pulled it on. These were not 12's like the others; they have no give or stretch and I could comfortably wear them all day!! So going back to that number on the scale. Being under 200# is just something to say, but at 213.2 (another .2# chiseled away yesterday) and pulling on a small (non stretchy) size 12 pair of jeans and being comfortable...now that is something. My body and my health will be the final determining factor and not the number on the scale.

I love you all for the support and comments. You inspire me!

Amazing attitude! Keep it up!

I was nodding the entire time I read your journal. I did go out and read the blog referenced in the comments and it definitely gave a different point of view on the sculpture and I guess it's all a matter of where we are in our heads that creates the reaction. That's the beauty of art. I have no question that you truly love yourself at any weight and are doing what you do to improve your own health. I think for me the sculpture represents the 'beauty is on the inside' theory and didn't really strike me as a weight loss or surgery advocate. Revisiting it I could see how someone may perceive it as something else. Again, it's art, created to provoke thought and commentary. You have an incredible attitude and love not only for yourself but for other's here. It shows in everything you do and write. I'm happy to be your FS friend and feel like we'd be friends in real life.

Thank you, Bells! I have no doubt in real life we would be friend. I am very grateful for your FS friendship. I think we could all go back and look at the sculpture and (depending on where we are in our lives at that time) could see it in a different light. That is the utter beauty of, not only art, but how we each evolve on a daily basis. :)
