Snowwhite100's Journal, 18 Feb 19

Last night was trash night and my husband put in trash: food, books, 1/2 gallon mason jar full of jerky, toiletries, etc., then put the heavy, heavy compressor from the freezer that went out, on top of my stuff so I couldn't get to it. He had promised me the day before he would not throw any of my stuff away this week. I need to remember that his promises mean nothing. I did get upset. Our daughter and husband are here for 8 days and was sorry they saw me get upset for a few minutes. She did give him heck for throwing my stuff in the trash, but it means nothing to him.

Our heater went out the day after they got here, and the whole house smelled burned. Of course my husband was mad at me, and would only believe it was the thermostat, totally discounting the burn smell. I learned: when the motor burns out it sends the smell into the house. We are in Southern California so the cold is surely not like being back East. We just had to put quilts over us at night. Fortunately the repair man came the following day, even though it is a holiday. My husband had me call him and cancel this morning because it finally started blowing heat, then made so much noise I had to quickly call him back to come, before he changed his schedule. My husband got so mad at me for speaking to the repair man too quickly on the phone. The man was right, the motor is going out.

It was expensive but of course not as much as a whole new heater. He had to leave and go buy the proper motor. Good to now have heat especially with our daughter here (stage 4 cancer). She goes for a pet scan tomorrow to see how her chemo is working. My husband goes tomorrow for the results of his lung CT Scan.

The dryer was out for 3 or 4 days, perfect time to have repairman see it. This morning my husband tried it again and it worked perfectly. Repairman says wait till it goes out again. It's been building up to this for a long time: the pulley on the drum wearing out.

Me, having to take some of my stuff out of the attic for the repairman to get to the heater, made him the angriest of all. Too much hassle for visitors to see. I am in a lot of pain from the pinched nerve in my back, actually our daughter is in quite a bit of pain also. I took a third, she took a half of a gummy bear cannibis. Helps for maybe 3 hours. Probably if she wasn't here, my husband would be a lot angrier.
Eating window 8 hours. Can't keep up with anything but my eating, and don't really care (water/exercise/carbs). Had 2 smallish avocados for dinner with salsa. Daughter can have no carbs today before test to see cancer lesions on her bones. Not bone cancer: breast cancer spread to all her bones. Thank you guys for being there.

Dear Snowwhite100, the unhappy struggle and your frustration with it all comes through loud and clear. I feel so bad that there's nothing I can do to ease your burden. But you do have my fervent prayers, my friend. This is not an easy time. Be *very* gentle with yourself.
