After a week from hell I'm not surprised I haven't stuck to my diet. There's possibility that my 93 year old Mother in Law may have to come and live with us as hubby promised she'd never end up in a care home. Also my alcoholic sister is causing mayhem in the family!! Amazingly I haven't put any weight on after comfort eating for the last 5 days. How do other people deal with stress in their lives when food is so comforting? xx

I never thought I'd say this (I was the kid who faked notes to get out of P.E) but I'm actually going to agree with John here and say exercise. It doesn't make any of your problems go away but it gives you time away from them, it burns off anger and stress, it wears you out which can help sleep, it can help you to keep some sort of routine, and it makes the brain release all kinds of hormones and chemicals that make you feel better

Thank you both for your time. I agree exercise certainly gives you something to focus on and takes your mind off things. Will give it a go xx

Julie, does she accept that she’s an alcoholic?? If so there is hope,..it killed my wife 12 years,48, never accepting alcoholism therefore never sought help.To her it was ‘just a habit’ & ‘I can stop anytime’......NO they can’t, cruel addiction 😔😢

I do housework when I’m stressed. I don’t mean normal housework. I do a spring clean! Everything is spotless lol. Stress also has the opposite effect on my when it comes to food. Not saying that’s a good thing but it’s just how my body is. Looking at what I’ve just written is would appear I like to clear out the crap in my life lol. It may be hard having your mother-in-law living with you but she’s 93... As for your sister, alcoholism is terrible disease. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do for her unless she realises she has a problem. I’ve had a few in my life and wasted so much energy trying to help. I hope things get easier for you! 😘

Hi my FS Buddies. It's lovely knowing that people care enough to reply even though you don't know me. Thank you so much x So sorry to those of you who've lived with alcoholism, it's a terrible disease. Back counting the calories but I've has a stinking cold and chest infection for 3 weeks so any exercise sets me off coughing, but will be back into my walking and Zumba as soon as I'm better :-)
