Day 1 of a planned 3 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting
Blood sugar 112 mg/dL

Only did 500 calories yesterday and still gained 2 pounds? I look to my continued skyrocketing fasting blood sugar levels (112! when my normal range is 80-90). I suspect insulin is still flooding my bloodstream, packing away fat...

👎🏾 Tried to water fast yesterday, but, had a stressful day and decided to have a Protein Shake. I was so busy I didn’t get to go for my walk at lunch.

👍🏾 So, anyway, I am thankful that my ‘no solid food’ fasts work. Otherwise I would still be on a non-ending eating binge.

This past three day weekend showed me that massive exercise does not help my weight-at-all. The 🏋🏾 massive weightlifting I did this past weekend has made my body look great, but, I could have probably lifted more weight if I had skipped 🏃🏾 running the 21 miles over the weekend!

Oh well…

I'm not worried. My body is not 'broken'. I need to be thankful that, as a 50 year old man, with a family history of diabetes, I am still only 12 pounds above my BMI weight. Yes, I will probably start dropping down again in the next few days.

I just can't carb up without 'repercussions'. This is not the end of the world. Just deal with it :)

My only concern is that I have another three day weekend coming up. I really need to 'no solid food' fast at least one of those days...

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

@Sweetlysad - Thanks! ...and I am really 'not worried'. Just need to get my fasting blood sugar down by backing off on the carbs.

When was the last time you have seen a doctor? Thought they could help or provide alternative methods.

@srossca - I got a full checkup last month, everything is fine. My body just behaves differently than others (however, still, a LOT like many people on this site). I know that when I decided to 'take a vacation' and 'carb up' there would be repercussions :)

this was the reason I decided to do Keto instead of Paleo because Paleo allows more fruit and natural sugars. I could never kill the sugar monster. It's officially dead. Since I started I am now on 1/4 of the insulin I was on previously. I hope to eventually get off of some other meds as well. You are right, we are actually all different, and what works for one may not work for another. Keep up the good work.

Glad to hear you Dr appointment went well!! Yeah, those “Vacation” times are tough. I lost a couple lbs before our latest vacation trip. Only gained back 3 lbs, so paid off!!

@srossca - Thanks. Just gotta get through this second three-day-weekend :) The plan is to NOT do what I did last weekend. Clearly "that" 'plan' did not work Hahah

I am also not doing what I did last week , not saving calories for the weekend can make gain one pound per week. 😬

Unfortunately I am proof that exercise does not help you lose weight. It makes me feel great but as for losing weight nothing!!! It is all in the eating, which I am struggling with at the moment. I keep trying but when that scale doesn't move I get discouraged too. We need to keep trying tho.

You cannot outrun your intake. The value of physical activity is to keep your metabolism running at a higher rate for several hours after the exercise is completed. Exercise is good for your heart, brain and all the other organs because it keeps the blood actively moving through the vessels so that you don’t develope blood clots and possibly avoid a stroke. Physical activity helps build muscle— and it is muscle that burns calories.

You did 21 miles over the weekend??!!! 😦 The treadmill is so boring. 10 minutes and I’m ready to do anything else. Slayer is the only thing that helps me pass the time 😄

Slayer \,,/ (*.*)\,,/ I have Dave Lombardo's hat👌
