Day 2 of a planned 2 days of eating
Blood sugar 99 mg/dL

Yesterday I ‘let loose’ and just ate as many carbs as I wanted. I still went on a 5 mile run, but, I gained 3 lbs. If I can hold my weight gain to only 3 pounds for the weekend, I will consider that a success because I lost 7 pounds over the past 4 days (actually 7 pounds in 3 days and stayed steady one day). A 4 pound net loss for 4 days would be *Steller* 😊

To try to achieve this, I plan to not have my morning “Protein Coffee” (300 calories/3 carbs). I love it, but, I really think this ‘sabotages my day’ because it ‘breaks my overnight fast’ and ‘carbs me up’ and later ‘makes me hungry’. I didn’t have it during the past week and the results were better than I have had in over 3 months.

I have a dinner planned tonight, so I will go to the gym, run 5 miles afterwards, and only eat at the dinner tonight. I plan to 'let lose' again, so, I still may gain a pound or two. Oh well, I am having a lot of fun with family and friends this weekend and I am really enjoying myself :)

A side note, many of us who average around 1k calories a day are ALSO doing low carb. High carb on 1k calories a day would not work for me because I would constantly feel hungry. Also, different bodies behave differently. I’m 50 years old, I cannot eat as many calories and carbs as I did when I was in my 30s and not be “Obese”. Say what you want about the BMI calculation, but, for me, “Obese” is always ‘not what I want’. At 5’8” anything above 198 pounds makes me “Obese”.

Why does this matter so much to me? Yesterday I was able to run 5 miles in 46 minutes. I simply cannot do that when I am “Obese”. When I can do that, I am able to walk up the stairs at work without being out of breath. I can get in and out of the car without risking injury. I have friends in their 50’s who are on a ‘cocktail’ of medications and can barely walk. So, for me, not being “Obese”, and being able to actually run 5 miles, is the best thing I can do for my health.

Anyway, Monday, back to the normal diet. This time I plan to ‘water fast’ on Monday, and then ‘no solid food fast’ the rest of the week.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

I am in awe of your fitness regimen. 5 miles in 46 minutes seems superhuman to me. Have a wonderful evening!

@jengetfit123 - Thanks! I built up my running over many years. I ran a lot even when I was "Obese" at 220+ pounds. But, as they say "Diet starts in the Kitchen" so my running back then was only keeping me from 'getting worse'. My 'running pace', however, is directly tied to my weight. I can only maintain a 9 minute mile when I am around 170 pounds. I am REALLY trying to lose another 10 pounds to see what I can do in the low 160 pound range. While I would also love to see what I could do in the 150 pound range, with the weight lifting (really the amount of carbs 'lifting heavy' requires), my body just wont go that low...

You're doing great and enjoying yourself! You know even though you have a unique woe, I am always inspired and reminded how individual this journey is for us. Good work.😊 👍

@Becc@ - Thanks! My 'no solid food fasts', in the end, are really just #Keto and #IF (Intermediate Fasting). For the past three months, I have kept the #keto part, but, my Protein Shakes 'throughout-the-day' were NOT keeping up with the IF part. This is what I am looking to change in the coming weeks...

@srossca - Yes! Life is Good! I am grateful that I have not had an injuries and have been able to run every day I wanted to (when it wasn't raining). This is a "Blessing". There are plenty of people who would be 'willing to try' to run 5 miles but physically cannot.

Have you ever had a chance to do “sprint” training? It helps cut your time. Of course, at our age, it’s fun just completing the 5 miles!! Haha 😂

@srossca - I know I would get more with HIIT than running, but, I like listening to my music and 'zoning out' on a long run :)

Sounds like a nice weekend! And that bs 99, is really good for carb binging the night before! It seems like it use to be much higher, if I recall correctly. Looks like your body is truly healing itself 🙏🏻💪

@CrashtestDawnie - Yeah my blood sugar readings in the morning don't seem to spike for long periods of time like in the past.
