Day 2 of a planned 5 day ‘no solid food’ fast
Blood sugar 91 mg/dL

I had a stressful day at work yesterday. Nothing big, but, I was disappointed that a solution to a technical problem slipped out of our grasp again. For the record, converting a Java DER SAML Key to a Microsoft format PKS key is-not-actually-possible... But, I digress :) The point is, in the middle of all this I wanted to eat. I was annoyed, angry, and frightened because I was 'looking into the future' and imagining the 'fallout' of unexpected change in plans for a large project we are working on...

Blah... Blah... Blah...

The details don't really matter, and as soon as THIS situation gets fixed, another will come up :) 🧘🏾‍♂️ That is LIFE!

Anyway, I did not eat... Only because I was on a 'no solid food fast'. I therefore I 'emotionally' decided to 'pig out' on Protein drink! But, I was down to my last scoop of protein powder😢. So, I HAD to 'act right'. I didn't lose any weight, but I am not surprised, because lately it seems I retain water 🌊 the first two days of my 'no solid food' fasts.

Basically, my number one strategy for not getting fat again is not-pigging-out 🐷. Every day I avoid going on an 'eating binge' (defined as eating more than I need to because of 'emotions'), I am doing good 👍🏾

If appears the 'no solid food fasts' really help with this 😎

However, my body fat has gotten REALLY low. My body fat scale returns numbers in the 8%-12% range, so I estimate I have 10% body fat. There-is-no-reason-for-me-to-go-lower. So, next week I will switch to OMAD (One Meal A Day). If I gain a lot of weight, I will just switch back to the 5 day 'no solid food' fasts.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

glad you battled your demons and won. that is a big one. you can also think about having an omad day on workout day too. you seemed to do very well eating a big fatty protein meal before your workout. not saying steak, but chicken with cream butter gravy would work too. I have a spicey chicken recipe my husband loves. the only carbs are from the cream and the sauted green peppers. I use chicken breast strips. baked pork chops breaded with ground pork rinds are tastey too. lots of options if you don't want to do steak yep recognizing your body fat is getting low is a good thing.

I may break the fast for Thursday's workout if I drop 3lbs...

you do whatever you are comfortable with. weight lifting is your goal and not getting fat.

Sorry to hear about the work stress - kinda' goes with the territory doing that for a living - so cool that you did not eat your stress and that you 'behaved' with your protein drinks - even though you had no choice :) It will be interesting to see how you do on OMAD - you may have to just say 'no' to yourself rather than give in to any cravings you get from having a meal - it isn't easy but you CAN do it!! Like everything else it might be tough and you might slip but if you keep at it you can make it a habit.

@nikeit - Thanks! Also, if I go OMAD @PrincessValerie 'controls' what I eat :) She is 'hard core Keto' for months now. She has hardly ANY carbs in the entire house. So, I think this may work... :)

Looks like some serious control you have there under the circumstances.

Thought hard about your fasting technique, I don't think I'm ready for that just yet but I'm following you each day. Cuddos my friend.

@CrashtestDawnie, @chesgreen - What has worked for me is 'surrender'. When I make my decisions I say to myself "Listen, you have no 'willpower'! Accepting this, what will you do?" That is why I say "Ok I will let go, but 'try' not to eat any 'solid food'". True willpower would have me just 'acting right'. Not gonna happen... :)
