Day 4 of a planned 5+ day 'no solid food fast'

Blood sugar 78 mg/dL

🧘🏾‍♂️ Still trying to work off that 10lbs gain from my 4 day vacation this past weekend. I should be more grateful for this one pound loss, but, I had been hoping for another 2 pound loss.

My blood glucose reading is nice. When an insulin resistant person like myself wakes up with a 78 reading I am in 'fat burning' mode. 🏃🏾 Normally I would do a 5 mile run, drop 2 pounds and then it would actually hold until the next day, 🏋🏾 however, today is a lifting day and running is a bad idea on a lifting day...

🌊 I am considering a water only fast this Friday. I want to get my mind back into the 'satisfied with less' mode that I have had on previous 'fasts'. This is a 'spiritual' thing that has nothing to do with 'dieting'. If I don't feel mentally up to it, I wont force myself.

📅 I plan to extend my fast until Sunday. I hope to maximize any gains and also to reduce the eating 'bounce back' time to only one full day, because the fast would restart on Monday.

Have a great day everyone!

I'm water fasting today - and was on Tuesday too. I'm hoping to get my 'fasting' mojo back.

good thing you are not running you need your energy for that lifting! so how many calories have you been partaking in this week?? I know with your carb load you did not need much. Just curious since you are not dropping the water weight as fast as you can sometimes.

Great BS! Hope you enjoy the water fast tomorrow - sounds like you have a great plan.

@nikeit - I am really happy with the BS reading. I am glad I have been tracking it. I forgot to bring it with me when I was in New York and went on the 'carb Binge'. It may have helped me slow down if I saw myself pegging out at 150+

@baskington - I am still at 900+ calories a day consisting of heavy cream, protein powder, and Splenda. I think the 'slowness' in my loss (as compared to other weeks) is A) My BS was really spiked THAT high and it took longer to come down. B) I am consuming too many carbs (the heavy cream says 0 carbs but like Splenda really does have carbs in large amounts). I do plan to run on Friday and Saturday because I wont lift again until Sunday and I will carb up that day.

@minitata - Good luck with your fast! I am 90% sure I'm gonna do it, but for me it takes a lot of 'mental' toughness.

Yes, you can do it 😀, this one is my OMAD and IF 5:2 week and Monday and yesterday I did something like 20:4 😐haha , today and tomorrow I will have to be successful with OMAD 🤨😏 I like to be fasting for the same reason as you.

@Keilin_4 - When I am not in weight loss mode I do IF 5:2 (Fasting 5 days (Monday-Friday)) and eat 20:4 (only eat 4 hours a day 5:00pm-9:00pm) same as you :)

@chesgreen - Thanks man! I hope to take a better one in a month. Weightlifting 3 days a week (haven't missed a day in two months) has really made a lot of changes. My challenge is 'cutting' weight so I can 'bulk' more. I basically did an 'unplanned bulk' this weekend when I went on vacation and went on the 'carb binge' :) But, I need/want to do a 'controlled' 2 week bulk.

The 5:2 diet is eat 500 calories 2 days of the week and eat "normal" the other 5 days , I think I will be doing that for life because my downfalls are the weekends so it will work perfectly for me. The OMAD and 20:4 are great too, your stomach doesn't allow you to eat too much calories, although it depends on what you decide to eat. I don't need to much time to eat 2000+ calories if my choice is bad haha
