9th Hour of a planned 20 hour fast

Ok let's look at yesterday...

Good news:

* I stayed in my planned 20:4 eating window
* Got in my 1 1/2 hour workout with the weights (and did all three sets)
* I ate a sufficent number of carbs to make my workout easy
* I did not eat a Big Mac

Bad News:

* I went on a 'carb binge' as soon as I ate a bag of trail mix for dinner
* I ate a small McDonald's fries (first french fries in 5 months!)
* I ate 130+ carbs

Basically I was on my own last night because I was out with friends. The only thing that saved me was waiting until 5:00pm to have any solid food. I also stopped eating around 8:00pm. When I did start eating, I went on an 'out of control eating binge'. I was able to not get a McDonald's Big Mac but it was the ONLY thing I said no to.

Tonight will be better. @PrincessValerie is making a Keto dinner. The plan is to keep the carbs below 20 (I am suppose to be on 'weight maintenance').

I am enjoying working out. I swear my body is starting to look better already. I have NEVER in my life 'lifted on the way back up' (while gaining weight). Muscles seem to come back faster than the weight came off.

As I was in the middle of my 'eating carb binge' yesterday I was thinking that the plan to 'just maintain' is impossible for me. I am either my 'old self' that eats out of control and gets fat, or I am the 'faster' that loses weight.

The 'wannabe bodybuilder' gives me another option. However, to make that work, I have to 'put in the work'. Hence I was up until 11:30pm last night getting my planned workout in...

I love reading your diaries. It is like opening up my skull and looking into my brain, LOL. Lifting is so cool that you can step away for weeks and months and when you come back to it, within a few days, your muscles fill back up. Time for you now sculpt your body and chill with the long miles. Hint, that's why I keep my runs to 4 miles and I mix in sprints.

@chesgreen - Thanks for the support man! Yeah only run planned will be on the weekend. I need to concentrate on 'lifting heavy'. I'm working out with 50lbs. dumbbells for now. I will reward myself with a bench and a bar if I stick to my workout for a few weeks.

I get carb cravings when I fast longer😂 Carbs are so irresistible😋 because of their satiety index. I think I will control the portion but end up eating a bit more as the restaurant servings are way too much. And the cycle continues but with progress everytime😊 Reaching for normal BMI (13 lbs left) and then will commence the iron party. Wannabe too 😎 good luck to you and everyone here.☺

@reader1 - That's why I loved the 5 days fasts. It 'pushed me past' the big 'carb desire'. Now I'm on OMAD (One Meal A Day), let's see if I can stay in the 15 carbs I planned out for my day... :) Also, I have NO restaurant visits for the next week.

You will get better my friend

adef, you're doing it, as long as you're working it out. You're in charge. You write the script. 😊 Go team M&V. 👍

I do want to eat everything I have at home, but I don't eat them 🙂, and I only had 30 minutes window. 4 hours window is like 8 hours window for me

@keilin-4 - I plan to shorten my eating window as time goes on :)

@Becc@ - Thanks for the support! Yes, she will feed me for the rest of the week, so I will be ok :)

I think you will do great, one bad day is nothing. you know the carbs are not your friend. You can fuel up on fat and get the same energy for your workouts.

You are doing great, and If you don't plan to lose more weight 16/8 is better because you can have all your macros and calories.
07 Aug 18 by member: keilin-4
Yes, as Baskington says, you can drink coffee with coconut oil, or one avocado or the fats you prefer and you will be fine. Actually I do become crazy with carbs too , being skinny is not easy for us 😕

Your post reminds me yet again that this is a process, not an event. The mcd's, meh, it happens! If you keep your fries consumption to 2x a year, you will obviously be fine! Good job on the workout!

@keilin-4, @jengetfit123 - Some of us (me) are 'sicker than others' :) :) I will try...

I know, I am sorry, but we know you can do it 😉

Good luck - it sure is rough to do this stuff right!

remember all the work you put in to lose. let that be your motivation to say "no" to the binge. and if you do, let it go and start fresh next day. no guilt zone.

I love how you have given names to the ways you can be: 'old self' 'faster' 'wannabe bodybuilder' There's lots of ways we can be. I think I'm going with 'healthy me' for now Maybe you can come up with a name for the new you that starts saying NO to the carb binge right before you put the first bite of it in your mouth - 'super nope man'? 'binge blocker'? This is making me laugh:) Have you ever watched "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" improv comedy show - one of the games they play is superhero and they each get a crazy off the wall superhero power and are given a scene and they just take it from there. Funny show. I'm going to start thinking of you as Binge Blocker. Don't let me down!

@VAM49 - Ok I will imagine "Binge Blocker"! Next time. For now "Faster" is the 'Super Hero'. I had to go to the store on my lunch hour and there was all-this-food. Some of it low carb. I also had to walk by some fast food places to get there. I so wanted to stop and 'get a little something...' Had I eaten anything, "Binge Blocker" would have been 'up to bat' but this guy hasn't come through -ever- :( "Faster" on the other hand seems to always come though. I stick to a 'planned fast' 100% of the time. My plan today is to not eat before 6:00pm (yesterday it was 5:00pm). I-will-not-eat before 6:00pm, period. :)
