Maintained my BMI Weight

Had an "iron" party this morning. Forced myself to get through three sets (normally I only do one). Wanted to quit but reminded myself that it is either this, continue to lose weight (and look sickly), or return to being fat. Lifting weights won out.

Still working through some great info @JimmiePop sent me (first link starts with: https://bit.ly/2Ktu1Dz). I need to get some more equipment (or a gym membership) so I can 'lift heavy' so I plan to 'reward myself' with the new purchases if I can prove my dedication by sticking to my dumbbell workouts for a few weeks.

Have a lunch at BJ's Restaurant planned with old friends. Now, understand, I don't eat solid food for breakfast and lunch, period. At the most I will drink a protein shake with water.

This place has gourmet burgers and fries so this would be a perfect opportunity for a cheat day, but my heart is just not into it. "Failing to plan is planning to fail!" So, I downloaded the online nutritional guide (https://bit.ly/2vhl5MG), scanned down the carbs column and decided that I am having the Prime Rib with Broccoli (10 carbs). Only going to eat half and bring the rest home.

I look at a LOT of charts on this site. Saw a woman who takes in 150 carbs and 1700 calories a day average and is losing weight. Went through every post she ever made and saw some pictures. Her biceps are almost twice the size of mine. Muscle matters...

With that said, I just can't "carb up". If this affects my body building so be it. My past is a good indicator of my future. When I eat high carb food I go on a 'carb binge'. This causes the carbs (which bring water weight) and the calories (that causes a 'calorie surplus'). How many times do I have to repeat this cycle before I just "accept" this fact?

So, for now I plan to keep eating at least once a day, hitting the protein drink hard, and lifting. Let's see what happens...

You are doing awesome shifting gears, adef! I love that you are seeing if you can stick with it before investing. I did that too this time. It motivated me! Also good job on having a plan for the burger place!

I think you will do well taking it slow and easy on the exercise routine and learning to enjoy eating a nice juicey ribeye with some broccoli is one of the joys of eating keto. I love eating meat and I love putting a pat of butter on top near the end of the grilling to give it added flavor.

Gym is a big plus for me. Once I got under the bar and learned how to lift properly, I started meeting fellow lifters. Got this whole supportive like minded lifter crew now. Like FS, only for strength and training. If I disappear for a couple days, I'll get texts calling me out. Strong positive...

Please just enjoy your lunch with your friends and don't worry about your food or weight during it - being with friends is what makes life worthwhile! You are doing fine with the rest anyway!!!!

@jimmiepop - AFTER my workout I felt great! I'm feeling really positive right now :) Looking forward to making connections at the gym... when I get there...

you got me going, since I don't feel well, that ribeye sounded great, I ran to the store and grabbed a big fat one for dinner today.

I read the first sentence and though wow - how many shirts does this guy have to iron and who did he invite?

And re "how many times do I have to repeat this cycle before i just "accept" this fact?" How about no more times? You've repeated it enough times to know what works and doesn't work for you re carbs. Accept what is so and embrace the ribeye:)

@VAM49 - Nice one! .. and yeah thee are worse things in life than having to eat steak instead of fries :)

So I did enjoy the lunch :) Ate the entire prime rib and broccoli with Club Soda. But, now I am on a 'carb craving'. Just ate a Low Carb Quest Oatmeal Raisin Protein Cookie (4 net carbs 250 calories) and I'm still hungry. I am about to get into the low carb chips... My best dieting method is a 'small eating window'. Lunch is NOT a good idea for me...

Good choice for lunch! But yea once you start eating, it’s hard to stop. Especially with more than 20 carbs! I hope I can learn to eat carbs responsibly one day too. For now though, I really like a 4 to 6 hour eating window.

@CrashtestDawnie - That part I find a bit upsetting was the entire meal was only 12 carbs. If I ate the meal and then went to bed I would be ok, but I had the-rest-of-the-day :( I was not actually hungry because the meal was like 1100 calories! Oh well I actually need to gain a pound a week to actually build muscle...

Agreed - so many people will argue with me about carbs and how it is just CICO - the quality is important for me, too. Today was a cheat day for me...but back to under 30 grams of carbs total each day will bring the water and weight down in a couple days.

I agree! When I eat carbs I want more carbs! And then I can’t stop eating them. You do what works for you!

I know you like the quest products, just had the Supreme pizza the other night. It was pretty good! Even the wife thought it was good and she eats reg pizza 🍕..

I know exactly what you mean about the small eating window - once I eat in the morning I eat until I go to bed - that is why the IF where I don't eat after 6pm is important for me - takes the eating decisions out of my hands (I say that even though I ate until 7pm yesterday...bad, bad planning on my part)
