Day 1 of 1 day of planned eating

So I fasted for two days and gained two pounds :)

I have decided that the scale is a bad way to track progress and a really bad way to track progress when you are down to the last 10 pounds or so (these are words I thought I would never say in my life!). This is just water retention. A situation not helped by not being able to exercise these past two days (other than 10k walks). My blood sugar was 76 this morning so I feel my insulin (the only thing that matters to me) is low, and that is good.

Anyway, in past weeks I would drop 2-3 pounds on Thursday so I would have had a loss this week, but today is 4th of July BBQ and I plan to eat.

After a lot of thought and soul searching I realized that:

1) When I eat I will want carbs.
2) I wont be able to do my usual "exercise instead of eat"

Basically, this is a total disaster and I am so thankful I do not have any event like this planned for the rest of the year. Even on Thanksgiving and Christmas I can go for a 5 mile run before or/and after dinner. When I am on vacation they always have a gym. My problem today is, because of driving and the event, I will have 7 hours where I will be faced with food and cannot exercise.

Gonna take this one on the chin and just be thankful that during the rest of the year I have choices. So the scale goes up, it is not the end of the world. What is my plan tomorrow?

I plan to be back on the fast.

ah you can eat tons and enjoy yourself. you can eat less of the high carb food and enjoy all the protein you can grab. coleslaw is basically good for you, I don't know what the food plan is for your holiday but you can always enjoy yourself.

Insulin and BG are the things that I worry about too. Don't intend to ever go back to being a diabetic

Even if it’s junk food - enjoy 😁 there is no point to eat with regrets 😉

@baskington - That is my plan (less carb more protein). I just know myself 'once I get started'. I am taking my own low carb pita bread and low carb chips. This should help a lot but I think that overconsumption of them (and it was OVERCONSUMPTION) is what is contributing to this weight gain in the past two days.

@Honeybunny90210 - Oh I'm gonna eat! :) No worries there :) But, yeah, no regrets. Enjoy the day.

@minitata - I have a family history of diabetes. I also have family members who were diagnosed with diabetes who now do not take ANY medication because they control their diet.

hey great on the run and drop in weight, even if you are off on your carbs, you are definitely much lower carb on your cheats this time around, that is definitely progress. Big big win for you.

@baskington - Thanks! I just logged everything I "plan" to eat today. Still looks like a disaster but the expected carbs are below 100. Oh well here goes...
