My Dad's favourite train. Last seen by me - with him - at Chathill many years ago. Thanks. 

Wow. I remember seeing it as a kid. 

we still get cargo trains going through but is a rarity. when I was a child the trains went through constantly loaded down with coal. yeah, I am from a little, an almost ghost town now, but it was a booming coal mining town when I was a child. I loved laying in bed drifting off to sleep and hear the lonesome sound of the train whistle...strange what things you will miss from childhood memories. 

I remember my dad working on steam trains - he was a train guard - who was moved to the wages office after Beeching's cuts. 

Back in the early 60's my uncle was supposed to drive that loco, when it came on a visit to Edinburgh, but at the last minute his roster was changed and someone else got it. He was livid. 

It looks very clean and shiny! I see the fireman now 😀
