JockoT's Journal, 14 Jan 17

Ended up a bit of a disaster yesterday, with 3726 Kcals consumed. I'll have to do better today. Problem was, I'd bought a huge jar of Peanut Butter. It is my own personal jar, so I weigh jar, eat the Peanut Butter off a spoon, then re-weigh jar, to see how much I had eaten. And I had consumed almost 1000 Kcals in a few minutes. So easily done. Nice though, and pushed my Fat level up!

I've had the scales out this week. I usually estimate, but thought I'd have a week of check-weighing. Only found a couple of things I was estimating too low, fortunately, neither of them high calorie. So, you need to know how many calories are in one spoonful of peanut butter, by the sound of it!

Wow. Jocko that's a lot of calories, but I bet it was simply delicious. If only I could, I would,: if only... I haven't eaten peanut butter since I was a kid . But I'm allergic now, shame really! As long as you enjoyed it .. it's bound to make you feel good. 😜 You deserved a treat.

I love crunchy peanut butter.. I mix it with Philadelphia to make a creamy dip/spread.. same salty/crunchy/nuttiness but way less calories per spoonful.. I would find a large personal jar and spoon very dangerous! 😊

Agree you have to see the funny side but you'll do better next time. I like to spread peanut butter thinly on a plain rice cake, then close it with another - you could even weigh the rice cakes before and after. It comes in at about 100 cals the lot when I do it.

Hi Jocko - I LOVE PB but it can catch up to you. Have you tried out PB2 or Sukrin's Peanut Butter Powder? It basically takes out some of the fats (not that fat is bad, just about reducing caloric load in this case), you can mix up a serving with water, you can turn it into a sauce to drizzle over sweet or even savoury foods, add it into baked goods - I love the stuff. Holland and Barrett actually carry some variation of it (not Bell's or Sukrin's but another one which I haven't tried), or you can get it on Amazon.co.uk, etc. It's a GREAT way to get a bit of that taste without the OD on calories - and if you want to get SOME fat, one trick I do is to use part "real" stuff, and part of this other product, gives you the best of both worlds. I mean, I can eat PB by the bowl, so this is a super helpful trick for me.

Oh my. 😨 Did you finish off the jar? Hee Hee! 😋 Funny how you think eating something off a little spoon in itself is just a "bite". It's when you keep shoveling the those little bites into your mouth that reality sits in later. Like "OMG! What have I done?" 🤤 Ha! Ha! Been there, done that. Lesson learned.

I also love peanut butter, I only buy organic now with no added sugar or palm oil etc. In fact it only has 100% peanuts in it I also try to limit to 20 grams a day on a piece of toast.

Do you like cabbage? Buttered cabbage is fantastic for getting your fat content up. So is creamy cauliflower cheese. Message me for recipes if you need some 😉
