Still a really busy day, despite being free from travelling to the hospital and back. Gosh I am so relieved that is all behind me now!
I Went to a funeral this afternoon to support my friend, it was her mother who had died. Funerals are so different these days and I have to say they are better, because she arranged everything just how her mum wanted it to be. It was a truly lovely send off, by celebrating her life with photos on a big screen, music and kind words from people that new her. There was a wake afterwards and the buffet was absolutely fab. such a variety of sandwiches, savories and cakes. I was very good, I only had two sausages, two small quarter sandwiches and the smallest cake which was a bite size chocolate brownie. No alcohol just a cup of tea and chatted with my friend and her relatives. Got back at 4pm, walked the dogs made dinner and now just finally time to chill out. Going to look at the swimming times tonight and plan when is the best time to go this week.

I always promised myself I'd not go to a funeral again after my husband's but recently travelled to Barrow for my partner's younger brother's partner's funeral (relationship descriptions are so unwieldy these days! My sister-outlaw's - how does that sound?). Although Tony's wasn't particularly sombre, this was a funny affair with everyone wearing pink, doing Ju Juitsu honour bows and singing Disney songs. Snacks were, being in the North West of England, meat & potato pie, mushy peas and gravy with pickles (cheese & potato pie for veggies). Hardly snacks - a week's worth of carbs on a plate (so I had two, naturally!). Dare I say, you definitely have infinitely better willpower than I 🤔

Wow singing disney songs that's different! The food too, yes i would have enjoyed that. We were asked to wear bright colours too! Gosh times have certainly changed 😊

I wore yellow to my mother's funeral (and my father's girlfriend's come to think of it) as I had to read Wordsworth's 'Daffodils'. However, as we walked her coffin in to 'Love is All Around' by The Kinks (all heavy guitar and drums) I didn't think it was out of place! Food sometimes is difficult to avoid but you were very good and there are situations where one can be forgiven for not sticking to a plan.
