I have noticed an odd effect when drinking water. If I drink little, when I get up during the night for a toilet stop (I AM a 68 year old man), I feel great. However, if I drink 2 - 2.5 Litres (which is my goal), I wake up feeling quite "dopey" and woolly headed. Strange. Can any one explain?

No, but could explain why my husband feels quite dopey and woolly headed when he wakes up. He drinks at least 2.5 litres of water a day.

Nope. I've drunk enough water through the last month to float a small tanker. My urine is the colour of Bondi Beach sand. I drink 2-3 litres or water daily and will continue to do so. I'm 52 and go to the bathroom nightly around once or twice per night. I don't wake up dopey in fact since increasing my intake to this mad level I actually feel better in the morning and am often waking 20 or 30 min before the damn alarm clock which is really irritating me! But in a good way!

It could be a detoxifying effect. When you start flushing out the toxins stored in your cells, it can actually make you feel sick. Just a thought.

No idea! Unless it's beer that you're drinking? (Joke!)

Nice one. I'd love a beer in the evening, but with the new drink drive laws in Scotland and the much lower limit, a beer in the evening can put you over the breathalyser limit if you have to drive in the morning. And Monday to Saturday I am behind the wheel at 7 am!
