heidij123's Journal, 09 May 16

As predicted, it rained in Cape Cod, and we didn't go to Nantucket. Instead we visited the JFK museum, which majored on the Kennedy family holidays on Cape Cod, and was quite interesting. We walked out along the bay when the rain eased.

Then flew down to Georgia and picked up a hire car, and spent a day just south of Atlanta, visiting the small towns of Newnan and Senoia, and also met up with one of my FS buddies and her hubby for the evening, which was really nice! Georgia seems to be very green and lovely at the moment.

After that, drove to Savannah, and spent an evening plus a full day wandering around the grand streets and squares. We eventually got down to the river, which was very touristy, then went and got our car and drove out to a small place called Thunderbolt - we were just intrigued by the name! Walking along the river there at sunset was delightful, and afterwards we sat on the upstairs terrace of a bar, ate and drank beer, and listened to live country music. And we did drive back into the city in a thunderstorm!

Now in Charleston, which is grander and brasher then Savannah, I would say. The old quarter is very charming, with streets full of lovely 18th century houses, and the river front was nice for a stroll. Unfortunately the two museums that we had planned to go to were both shut - that was the Old Slave Market, and the Old Exchange which includes the dungeon where pirates were kept in the 18th century while they were on trial. We tried to go to a gospel concert this evening, but it was sold out, so went instead to Folly Beach and walked on the beach at sunset, aaahhhhh!

So all in all, having a good time, apart from getting pain in my left hip which is hindering me a bit. I will have to go to the doctor's when I get home, I think, as it's very likely arthritis. It's been coming on slowly for a long time, but has suddenly got worse.

Hope all my buddies are well and losing weight or maintaining, as the case may be!

What a lovely experience! Obviously not talking about your hip. I had a pain in my right shoulder for nearly a year which was steadily getting worse til I couldn't raise my arm at all. I made an appointment with my physio last thursday and today I am nearly painfree. :) and the cause of my problem? Bad posture! Duh! Hope your pain will be as easily fixed!

Sounds like an amazing trip you are having Heidi, I hope your hip doesn't hinder you too much. My tilted pelvis gives me hip pain, so if it is that, then it is fixable 😊

Thanks all, and I'm glad to hear it may not be arthritis! Haven't done so much walking today, so no pain, which is good! Maybe a rest will help?

Heidi, I just bought some orthotics at REI. SuperFeet green recommended by someone elses doctor and my knee pain is in half. Also know a runner with hip pain who got shoes for their stride hip pain dissappeared. Is it time for new inserts or shoes just a thought. Sassy weekend post needed with visuals. Laurie

Good holiday and some interesting places, with lots of have a nice day. On another note shoes are one thing people overlook until they find there is something wrong with their feet, but as laurieslife has pointed out, a misalignment in your feet can cause all sorts of other problems. If your foot leans in or out this can effect knee and hip joints and a difference between each foot can have a marked effect too. Feet are the platforms of the pillars that hold your body up, bad foundations can bring a building down too. :) I get hip pain because I walk with a limp when my foot starts to hurt and throw my weight off to one side, so have gel inner soles in my shoes to help with this
