CatHerder's Journal, 24 May 15

I hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend.

I did my long run yesterday. I ran for 85 minutes until my pace began to slow down drastically. The training plan I'm on for my 10k has certain target paces and I could no longer stay in the proper range so I stopped. I covered 7.25 miles with an average pace of 11:44/mile. I don't think that's too bad but my legs felt like rubber when I finally stopped. I was really exhausted and sore after my run. It was a pleasant morning to run though so all in all it was a very good run.

Today is a rest day. Tomorrow is another run day. I only have two more sessions with the trainer so this will be my last week with him. I also have my next 5K race in two weeks so I need to get in some speed work to get adjusted to the pace I want to run for that. Targeting under 30 minutes for the race. It's pretty ambitious but it gives me something to shoot for.

Enjoy your weekend everybody!

How's your knees?

My knees have never bothered me. I've been fortunate that way. The thing I notice is that my feet hurt around the heels. It goes away but is annoying.

Have you considered those cool rubber insoles? they even make cushioned heel cups...I think Dr. Scholl's at places like Walgreen's. Just a thought...

Wow! I'm complaining about 90 second jogs on C25K and you are running under a 12 min mile! I want to be you when I grow up!

HCB - I have a pair of the insoles. They actually made my feet feel worse when I ran. I think they have a stiffer heel. I use them in my walking shoes. Bethlauren8 - Glad to hear you're trying the C25K program. Are you planning on running a 5K?

You are dedicated to your training progam, way to go. Even though you're almost done with the trainer I'm sure you've picked up a lot of knowledge you can continue to use. Hope your heels feel better soon and good luck on your race.

Ah well - just a thought. I had insoles for my gym shoes - just ended up getting new shoes after all!

CatHerder, I would like to do a 5K eventually. I am signed up for a 5K Foam Fun Run with my son in October, but I don't know how much running goes on when it involves a 30 foot slip and slide! I really just want to be able to maintain a jog, which I can't currently do.
