Good morning to you all! I had breakfast with the birds this morning. They look prettier than my meal, so they get to be featured! This pair of pileated woodpeckers has been coming frequently. I'm hoping for babies in the spring!!!

Nice shot!!! Looks like he posed just for you. Thanks for sharing!!!

Little fox, they are so big! You are right! They are the largest woodpeckers in North America. The male's wingspan can be up to 30 inches! John. I wouldn't be surprised if he was posing!! 😁 This fellow is a showman who announces his coming from acers away. I can be on the other side of the house when I hear him coming! Sometimes I get to the closest window to watch just as he arrives!

They are beautiful. I miss them going to my bird feeder. The good surprise is that we get to see a rainbow bunting and his spouse on our feeder twice a day.

I miss the fauna and flora of Louisiana, living in the city has its pluses, but the beauty of the great outdoors is hard to beat. Thanks for the pictures. The only woodpecker in the USA larger than the pileated is the ivory billed woodpecker, which was declared extinct last year. But there are deep and dark swamps and forests in the deep south, and people living in those parts who disagree with that ruling.

Thank you, buenita and Brigit! Pinay, I had to look up a rainbow bunting! Wowwww! Now that is a beautiful bird. We sure don't have anything like that! Ocean_girl, I have to keep feeding them... They are too beautiful! 😁 ❤️

Shir, so really, really hope there are some ivorybills lurking in some quiet far away places. I had heard they went extinct. So sad. Mountainman, I imagine you must have so many!I am grateful that these guys have adapted pretty well to living in town. Even with more and more urbanization, their territory is so large that they manage. Although we don't have a ton of trees right near to us, there are forest nearby where they have some habitat still. Providing some food for them makes it easier for then to manage when

Thanks, wifey! I have four kinds of woodpeckers that come to my feeder. These are certainly the most flashy, but all of them are fun to see! 😁

Love it! Birds remind me of Mr Bear. He gave me an appreciation for them. Those wood peckers look huge! They are so cool.
