chesgreen's Journal, 18 Aug 14

Happy and annoyed. I a took a vacation day today(So nice to get up when I want vs the stupid alarm clock.) Off to a great start. Did 2 miles on the treadmill today before breakfast(logged both exercise and food). After eating decided to take look at the past entries, compare it to my current so I could get a handle on where I am going or to see if I was just spinning my wheels.

Here are my observations((THANK YOU FS for storing this data)):
In July, I logged foods only 16% of the time 5 days out of 31. My weight loss between July 1 and Aug 1 was nothing. I started both months @ 240 lbs.

So far in August, I have logged foods 72% of the time, 13 out of 18 days. My Average daily calories for the days logged was 1785. My loss since Aug 1 is 2.4lbs as of today. Seems like there is a very, very strong correlation logging and weight loss, at least for me.

So I am happy that I am getting better each and every day but annoyed that I can't jump in a time machine and tell myself that if I logged all my foods most of the time like I have been for so far this month, I could be closer to my goal.

Such is life, I will win. "By the Power of Grayskull! I HAVE THE POWER" Sorry, I had to let the adolescent out for a quick moment . I was quoting He-Man, the cartoon, for those of you who weren't 12-14 years old like me when that came on TV.

I remember He-man! "By the Power of Grayskull! I HAVE THE POWER"!! What's funny is that the workout program I just started is called GreySkull. Hopefully it will give me the power! LOL Keep logging that food Charles. Good job so far bud!

The name is Ches, short for Chester, no apologies needed. I wish you the power on your new workout Brent, assuming it is Brent.

Haha no worries. Your comment to Jim about logging his calories this past weekend motivated me to go back and analyse my activities past and present. A big thanks to Bigbrassbrent...

Excellent! The data is a powerful tool if you collect it properly.

Seeing the trend is good; the past is past. I see the same correlation that you do - the tools on the site will help if we let them.

"that's good to know and knowing is half the battle. GI Joe cartoon quote. Really, knowing is a great 1st step and taking action as you have been doing is the next.

We learn as we go and you learned an important lesson. I'm the same way and have found that logging is essential to my success. I did go back and put in yesterday's food as best I was able to.
