Yesterday was my first workout using resistance bands (the only affordable option on Amazon in the weight equipment offerings). The set included 10-50 lb. bands, various accessories and a booklet of exercises, which was helpful. Got in a decent workout, but today I'm only mildly sore and the scale showed a 1 pound bump up, which I was expecting but of course am not pleased about😒.

The one exercise I would love to be able to do with them is a seated row, kinda like using a rowing machine, for when I'm watching a movie. Unfortunately there's nothing to anchor the band to, as the TV is on a wall with no door nearby. If anyone has any ideas on how to rig this, please share!

I wish I had a suggestion for you but I can't even visualize how you would do it other than a chair, table, or desk, but with a 50 pound pull, I think you would need something heavy to anchor it down.

You could hook the band on the soles of your feet... but the risk of it smacking you the face like a rubber band is always there...

Leg of couch? Idk. Does your couch have legs? 😂😂

Were you expecting the bump up cause ...what? .... your building muscle?

do you have something to put through the loop and then shut a door with it acting as a catch on the other side? a broom handle perhaps?

@Jim: you hit the nail on the head with the 50 lb. pull, as none of my furniture is heavy enough (which is why a door is ideal). @Mermee & BDixon: to get any resistance, the tension would have to start at or beyond my ankles, so wrapping it around my footsoles won't work. Think of a rowing machine in motion...@Wifey: To pull from the leg of my couch would have me not facing the TV. @Tosh: lifting causes muscle fluid retention in response to the micro tears. It's like a protective cushion around the muscle while it heals. Normal, to be expected.

Move said couch and/or tv perhaps? 🤷🏻‍♀️

@PowerBC: The nearest door is 8 feet left of the TV, so the angle is to great (a door would be ideal if my TV weren't hung in the middle of the wall already). @Wifey: 🤣🤣 I will be going for some workaround that's more practical, since I don't want to push around my couch every other day. Am open to building a long wooden box (band hitched to one end, my feet planted on the opposite end).

if there is nothing on the wall under the TV, maybe a pretty, but functional bar anchored to the studs in the wall across the wall a few inches above the floor. or make a foot box that you can anchor it to that you would just pull out and brace with your feet.

I bought both sets. Love em, when I am able to use them.

You can just stand on the bands, and do bent over rows. Same movement.

Hey JB. Lovely to see you enjoyed them! I got an attachment in my conservatory. I basically got my wall drilled and have a heavy duty attachment there . I want to do a high pulley one to perform other exercises.

I will post a photo of how mine looks like 👌 Costed me less than 3 pounds in total maybe

@Paula & Tibrewer: Drilling the hole in the wall for the anchor bar is probably what I'll end up doing (slightly nervous about this, as "rowing" for 30 minutes with a 50-70 lb. pull is asking a lot of a wall anchor). @Tim: I'd like to have my ankles about 8 feet from the TV, so that I don't go blind watching it! Found a video on YouTube of a guy who used his treadmill to hook & brace against, if you need a visual.

@Diablo: I'm trying to create a rowing machine, so standing on the bands and bending over repeatedly for 30 minutes makes for crappy movie watching 🙃😜

I'm happy to see you always showing initiative in your healthy lifestyle. I'm looking for options for home workouts too. My exercises are very mild compared to when I actually lifted weights. The stretches make me feel fantastic though I did get an unexpected case of male booty syndrome that I'm not too happy about. One tip I learned long ago was that working out while watching TV is fine but try not to eat while watching TV! It distracts us so we tend to eat more than what we need. When it's time to eat, drop your other activities. It really works!

If you anchor it don't use wall anchors it won't work. Actually anchor in to the wall studs (they are two by fours)
